Trip Report:
Arrived around 10:30 Sunday, I wanted to get there early but the weather made the drive slow. Took me about 4.5 hours but it was worth it. After skiing Aurora, Oz and Jordan for a short bit I went over to Barker to meet some friends. Off of Barker we hit Right Stuff, Last Tango and Top Gun. All three were awesome but Last Tango was the best of the three. After that we went over to Aurora and Jordan. I don't know why but Oz wasn't running at this time. Wizards Gulch was the best I've seen it. One guy actually lost his ski in the powder when he wiped. We tried to help him find it but he found it himself. After Jordan closed we went to the Goggle for a couple brews and then went back out for some night skiing. Conditions were great but I really wore my legs out. Probably shouldn't have done that.
Monday my run of the day was Downdraft. We hit it early with no one on it and it was nice powdery pillow bumps. We then headed over to Aurora and I hit Celestial for the first time ever. Awesome glades! Hit that a couple of times, I could have spent all day there. From there we hit Vortex, also unbelievable conditions. Nice soft bumps. After that I followed some friends down some unmarked glades called Bill's Bowl. Big mistake for me! Way too tight for my gaper ass. I don't think I'll hit those again anytime soon. My legs were shot after that. We then hit Eureka and Tin Woodsman a couple of times. We finished the day off at Spruce, I made one more run down Downdraft and called it a day. My friends busted my balls because it was the first time I've quit before last chair since I've been skiing with them. They skied Downdraft and Topgun a few more times while I went to the Goggle for some beers.
Tuesday a friend and I hit the Gondola and was relieved to see that they didn't groom Downdraft. We were both worn out so we decided to stick to some cruisers. We skied off of Barker. We hit Ecstasy, Cascade, Sunday Punch, and Uppercut. We headed over to Spruce and hit Risky Business a couple of times until my friend had to leave. Total Hero snow! By that time my legs were feeling pretty good so I headed over to White Cap and skied Obsession. That was great, all packed powder, fast but very edge able. Going up the lift I saw some guy straight lining White Heat. Nuts!!! White heat looked pretty good so I decided to hit it. It was decent, not at all icy. I hit Obsession again, went back to Barker and hit Lazy River back to Spruce. My legs were burning at this point so I hit Downdraft again and called it a day. Downdraft was still awesome. No one was skiing it so it stayed in really good shape.
All things considered it was as good of a three day stretch as I've had this year. Sorry for the novel but I wanted to fit all three days in.
