Saturday 1/28/06 -
Very nice in the 40’s with sun (yup that’s 3 sunny Saturdays in a row). The snow was soft and nicely groomed when we hit the lifts at 8. The snow on Amex was very nice, probably the trail of the day that I skied. Although Obsession was very good around 11:30 (I bet it was great first thing in the morning). My dad said Jordan was great around 10 am, but I never made west of Northern Lights. I did have fun in the Mt. Dew Race Course and even won a “trophy” for being their only telemark racer. The snow on lower Monday Morning was very nice. I left at noon due to crowds (we waited 5 minutes at the heat chair) and went snowshoeing with the wife and the dog. BTW if you are looking for something a little different, the snowshoe trails near the Summit are fun, but some trail maintenance is needed. Trails are marked, but some trees need to be removed.
Oh yeah I hit the newly revamped Rocking chair park. The table just about the ¼ pipe and the ¼ pipe are awesome. Actually those are the only two features that I hit. Getting to old to hit the jumps often, but those two were too sweet to pass up.
Sunday 1/29/06 -Cloudy in the 30’s. Beautiful pink sky this morning. The trails were firm, mostly edgable with a few scratchy spots here and there. Top Gun was nicely combed for my first cruise down it of the year. Excalibur was the trail of the day. I didn’t feel like skiing much today (maybe due to the flat light or just being tired {snowshoeing is tiring}). Crowds were lined up as we left from Barker at 10:30.
