Resort or Ski Area: Sunday River
Conditions: PP
Trip Report: Very good day at Sunday River. Temps started in the single numbers when we got to the Barker Lodge around 8am, but it warmed up nicely to around 30 by the time we stopped mid-afternoon.
It was basically a rip the groomers day for the salsgang clan. PP everywhere, and the snow held up very well all day. A few slick spots in high traffic areas, but I haven't seen Sunday Rivers groomers in better shape then they were today.
We basically traversed from Barker to Jordan and back. Our first run down Lazy River was super. No one on the trail with soft cord and fun bumps to pump the skis with. We thought Airglow & Northern Lights skied very well. And as usual Dreammaker was very good off North peak. We did bounce around in the Enchanted Forest glade off North Peak which held good snow. And for a mild bump run Crossbow off Locke was fun.
It was somewhat crowded on the trails, but we managed to avoid the lift lines all day. Even rode the Chondola 3-4 times as we hit the terrain park for the youngest one. Nice smooth ride.
We didn't do anything remarkable today (no deep powder, killer bumps or trees) but it was a great relaxing & fun day in the mountains of Maine.
