Think they tried to give October lift served turns a try. While they made T2 and Upper Punch 3 nights in a row, Monday night I think they wisely pivoted to making concrete to lock it up for this late week warmth and liquid. Some shots from Jordan Tuesday after no snowmaking there Monday night.1000005279.jpg1000005283.jpg

Think that was first run. They had staff shoveling snow to close the gap at cross over, it was closed after first run.

Was quite nice today, butter cream frosting consistency. The crossover was narrow but passable, always the problem spot since the Alerra T-Bar went in. Possible they reopen T2 Sunday. If not, probably won't reopen til Jordan is ready for public as race camps are booked on Locke a bit further into November.

Snow Report

Afternoon Update

Last Updated: 11/13/2024 | 3:00PM
Here it is, folks, the moment you've been waiting for - tomorrow is opening day! We will be kicking off Maine's ski season on Thursday, November 14 on Locke with skiing down T2. First chair spins at 9AM with the last upload at 3PM.
T2 will be ungroomed tomorrow and we highly recommend expert skiers and riders only at this point. Downloading will also be required from the Locke midstation.
Tomorrow we'll be limiting access to those with a season pass, Ikon pass, Mountain Collective pass, or ticket pack, with plans to open daily lift ticket access on Friday, November 15. We will have guest services open and available to help in South Ridge and Barker. Speaking of Barker, parking is limited but we will have shuttles running between Barker and South Ridge throughout the day to assist with parking.
We are so stoked to welcome everyone back to your Happy Place.
Welcome to 2024/25!

Felt more like eastern skiing today, hard and fast. T2 is deep, upper punch is decent, Cascades is covered but not ready. They were working on spruce when I arrived, guns off midday.

Well, still stuck midstation up for now, but they were blowing hard all over last night and still currently too on Cascades, Lower DD to Lower Amex (basically off Chondi) into Southridge and then out in Jordan on all three trails supposedly. It will be interesting to see what they open this weekend.

Boyne should open Loon early season using the Gondola for up and downloading and open the east basin double trail pod along with North Peak and the Camp 3 lodge. They did this years ago. Loon and Sunday River have low base elevations which hamper early season snowmaking.

Take a look at the camp 3 webcam, there is no snow and it is not for lack of effort. The actual skiing on punch and t2 was excellent yesterday but the lift situation is brutal.

The solution is oz, upload and download on Jordan with some sort of staircase from oz to jordan. Base of oz is the same as locke midstation.

I think the solution should be Spruce with upload / download on South Ridge. Start the season skiing Amex. Then you'd have an actual base lodge and convenient parking to work with. Spread East / West from there.

They did do that for a year or 2. With the Fans on mid/lower Amex and DD into Amex now, this would be possible. Probably have to beef up the hydrant spacing on Upper AmEx to give it a real chance. Overdraft should be fine as is to get back to Chondi. Of course, this setup means 2 lifts turning to serve 1, which I'm sure they'd hate. The alternative is replace Locke with a HSQ (only build an uphill mid to limit the grip cycles and download from the top). But for a month a season at the current asking $$ for detaches, pipe dream here.
