11.11.11 is industry speak for well-groomed terrain

Newry, Maine (November 9, 2011)-New this winter, Sunday River Ski Resort and PistenBully USA are teaming up to provide the resort with even better slope conditions thanks to the addition of two new cutting-edge PistenBully 400s to the resort's grooming machine fleet. Both companies plan to celebrate their partnership this Friday, 11.11.11 proclaiming it as National Corduroy Day for all. Corduroy is an industry term for well-groomed snow because the end product looks like the fabric.

"For Sunday River, all of those straight lines represent perfectly groomed slope conditions which will be made even easier for us thanks to PistenBully," Dana Bullen, Resort President and General Manager, says. "What better way to announce our partnership than with a day celebrating well-groomed terrain."

Manufactured in Germany and designed for precision, the PistenBully 400s are known for their AlpineFlexTiller, which produces a well-aligned groom and easy transition when grooming machines overlap on the hill.

"The anatomy for seamless corduroy is built into our Alpine Flex Tiller," says Dennis McGiboney, Vice President of Sales for PistenBully. "It starts with the radius tuned cutter bar for accelerated snow processing, continues with adjustable snow flow for hard or soft conditions, and ends with a memory urethane / windshield wiper effect finisher system. These all add up to produce a high definition corduroy surface that is super fun to ski or ride."

To celebrate National Corduroy Day, Sunday River and PistenBully invite guests to check out the two new 400s located in the Barker Base Lodge parking lot. Later this winter, PistenBully will bring to Sunday River several models from its grooming fleet for a more in-depth look at their engineering.

Currently, Sunday River operates 16 grooming machines including the two new PistenBulley 400s.
