Sundown Mogul League?

My recent exposure to the racing prompted this idea and I was encouraged to post this here to gauge interest. This is a preliminary discussion only.

Any thoughts on forming a Sundown mogul league? Perhaps a casual weekly nighttime competition? No prizes or anything, but maybe we could keep some sort of points tally and at the end of the season, declare Sundown's most rad bump skier. ;)

Unlike racing, something like this would need to be judged, at least the turn/air component. Timing could easily be acheived either by a visual or using the racing setup. Logistically, this would be easiest to pull off on Gunbarrel. I think all that would be needed is a place for judges to sit (a small desk/folding table would work) at the bottom of the course and to fence off the bumps during these runs.

I would also like to know if any of you would be willing to donate time to help run this in a semi-official capacity. Off the top of my head, we would need judges, a starter and a few on ski guys to perform course maintenance, fence set-up/break-down, etc.

If there is enough interest in this, we could probably get something set up official for next year; perhaps with a few beta tests this spring. Thoughts?

Now I'm frightened. I was just thinking about this same idea this morning...

I'd be into it, I'd even be interested to help run it.

You're right, and that would be my only concern. Obviously, something like this would cut into actual ski time, both for those involved in running it and those who compete (waiting for others to run). Still would be fun though.

i'm perfectly fine with just having a couple of comps a year. I dont think i'd be into the league from a participant standpoint but i'd be down to judge or even help maintain the run.

It would be fun. I don't imagine there'd be a huge turn out, so it shouldn't take up too much time.

No, but even setting up fences, etc., takes time. The trick would be in the organization to keep the competitors moving. I was astounded how quickly the CISC racers came though. We usually had two new competitors on course every 20 seconds.

Organization is the key there.

I could help run it since I have yet to even attempt to ski bumps. Will the starter have one of those starter guns? If so put me down for that.
