Sundown SAW 1/4/10

Got out for a couple hours tonight after work to give my new skis a try for the first time. It wasn't exactly the best conditions for them, but they handled it just fine. I had a lot of fun cruising Gunny all night, which is a pretty big change of pace for me. Met up with Greg and Mondeo sometime after 9 (9:30??) and skied a few runs before they kicked us out. Good times and I'm very happy with my new ski purchase so far. :beer:

I had fun ripping Gunbarrel on a ski that actually is tuned. I think I get this whole groomer thing that everyone talks about. Don't get me wrong - if the bumps are enjoyable, I'm there, but we're firmly in that time of year where the bumps at Sundown are pretty rock hard, and I've skied my fair share of ice bumps there. I think a cheater race ski is in my not too distant future, and I'll even try to get it tuned more than once or twice a year.

Mostly cement, but ice where it gets steepish and there aren't any bumps. So no speed control without breaking where you need speed control the most.
