Man i dont even know what to say. Temptor and Gunny bumps. Expansion with a trail next to gunbarrel, where there is actually some pitch.

These guys are awesome. this so made my day.

Sweet!

Dedicated bumps runs, top to bottom bumps on Gun Barrel late season. Its going to be a good winter at Sundown for the bump crew.

Well, to clarify, there won't be a new trail for this season, I don't think.

Bumps to start on Temptor? Sweet!

Bumps seeded on Gunny late-Feb? Awesome! "A bump run 1800 feet long and 75 feet wide" makes me unbelievably pumped. Plus some bumps on Nor'easter for a little variation/warm-up is very cool.

"The Once A Week Seasons Pass" seems like a great option and value for some AZers.

These guys step it up every season. The best run ski area in SNE, without question!

Yeah i wasnt expecting it this year but the fact that expansion is almost in the bank, it sounds like, is still great news.

the rest of it just makes me drunk with happiness.

What would be truly exciting is another base to summit lift and dedicated small lodge to the south of Lift #4. This would give you the relatively consistent steepness of Gunbarrel without any of the base area crowding you get from Exhibition etc.. I'd imagine they'd start of with just an additional trail though and see how things evolved from there.

Gunny bumps!

bump run 1800 feet long and 75 feet wide

Let me put this in some perspective. The first 1,100 feet or so of Gunbarrel is the steepest section and drops about 365' in that stretch. Beartrap at Mount Snow is about 900 feet long and drops 300 vertical feet. So, basically we'll have our very own Beartrap in our back yards!!! Plus an additional 150 or so vertical feet of low angle bumps to finish out the run. If anything is steezy, that is.

Thanks for the responses Chris. Keep the Sundown machine chugging along! I will be a proud pass holder this season.

exhibition in general can be quite a bowling alley when the place is crowded. the entire ski area, except for gunbarrel and the tiny learning area, feed into that one run. Even though its super wide, i always keep my head on a swivel going through there. Been run down a number of times over the years.

I guess my point is that your post is dead on. anything to avoid that mess would be a big plus in my book.

Given gas and oil prices this winter, Sundown was already going to get more of our business this season. This just ices the cake!

Wow, good news for bumpers all around. The new pass option sounds like a good deal as well. :D

That is an awesome rumor, I can only imagine where you heard that one. An expansion plan, that did not include more lift capacity and a second base area would result in over crowding.

Nothing is for certain but I would guess the base of the lift would be south of lift #4.

I couldn't imagine where that rumor started... I hope it wasn't let out in error... ;)

This sounds great. 2 bump comps, bumps on Temptor right away & bumps on Gunny late season. Awesome. I'm definitely interested in that one day a week pass for $199. Sundown has been successful for a reason. They just get it.

My ski jones just increased significantly!

Agreed. Not many Northeast ski areas can interest people enough to drive south to ski. Unless you live in Canada, I guess.

Honestly, I did not hear the rumor from an Alpinezoner. But the patrollers on staff are quite nice to chat with.
