Teardrop Trail, Mt. Mansfield
Conditions:
SWEET! A foot of fresh on top of a soft base
Trip Report:
Started skinning up the trail from the parking lot at 9 with my wife, brother, dog, and a couple of friends. We were all very happy to be skinning up thru ever increasing snow depth the further we went up. Made some good time to the bottom of the elevator shaft (the steep pitch just below the CCC road) and then things got slow. I started to run out of energy about halfway up this pitch, so I made a new skinning track to traverse the slope. Got to the CCC road and kept going up. The snow was so soft, so it made for some great skinning up. Bumped into a few other people heading up and coming down, there were nothing but smiles all around!!!
We made it to the top, took a break for lunch, then hit the pow! We rocketed down thru the fluff! I couldn't believe how good the conditions were for April! They certainly rivaled any of the mid-winter descents i've ever had there!

I just wish I had my Sumo's mounted for saturday.. they would have been SWEEEET! floatation anyone? hehehehe.....
