[thread="17439"]Last year's thread[/thread]. A few things I would like to accomplish:
  • Better hands. I've realized my hands are too far apart and I'm doing a lot of "card dealing".
  • Learn to drive the hips forward in the bumps. I'm still crouching big time to compensate.
  • Learn to take air with more confidence and consistently throw down old school cheesy tricks.

I think I improved overall so I'm happy.

not sure it is "technique" but i want to get better/more comfortable in the air. I can throw a cheezy spread eagle but that is about it. I have dreams of a helicopter (360 to you young folks).

FAIL.

there is always next year.

My technique goal this season is to be more mellow 8)

I don't even know where to start. Most of my goals are bump oriented. I think not steering with my upper body, tighter stance, and keeping my keeping my eyes 3-4 bumps ahead is a good place to start After that who knows, upper/lower body separation or A&E?

I think my upper/lower body separation improved a bit. The steeper the bumps the more I steered with the upperbody. I think I picked up my speed a bit in the bumps. I got over some fear. Instead of skiing a few bumps and stopping I would ski a much longer line and not deviate from it too much. Still lots to improve on (tighten stance). I need to stop talking about this cause its making me want to ski real bad.

Aside from continued improvement in the bumps this is my biggest goal as well. I've always been a chicken about being in the air, no matter what the sport. I'm trying to overcome that silly fear, both in skiing and MTB. I can barely pull of something that loosely resembles a spread eagle (more like dumper air as Greg calls it). My goal is to be able to pull off a solid spread and go from there.

I put down a few non-dumper spread like maneuvers this year, but I'm still far from being comfortable in the air.

Like Gary said, I guess there's always next year..

  • Speed WITH control (big mistake last year...got the speed, hurt myself because I wasn't in control)
  • Get out of the backseat
  • Ditch the pole plants for now since I was told mine look awkward and aren't helping
  • RELAX while skiing... a friend at A-basin explained to me why I was out of alignment when skiing and how to remedy that

I did accomplish a lot last season... but I felt like I took some steps backwards after the partial ACL tear. At least at the rate I'm going now, I'll be in MUCH better shape when I enter the next ski season.
I don't know. I think I improved. Hard to remember since it's been over a month since I last skied. I do feel like I relaxed more, and definitely gained some speed with control. The pole plants...meh. And I doubt I managed to get out of the backseat.

Next year.

not that we skied together much but seeing videos of you last year and this year and the few times we skied together this season i'd say you improved quite a bit.
