and i will add an edict for you. enter one of the comps this year. you would've won last year.

IF I can figure out bumps a little bit, I may enter one of the comps. Probably the later one. But I'm sure MRGisevil could kick my ass, technique improvements or not! :D

Aww thanks Pat, Carrie. Maybe I will follow in Sev's footsteps and make entering a bump comp a goal :)

Learn to ride switch as fluid as I can regular. I spent alot of time getting switch down this season and can do anything Jackson can throw at me switch (ended up inadvertantly doing Corbet's switch even, that was interesting), but I want to do it with style.

That and the ability to land 3's consistently off 10-15 foot cliffs into powder. As of right now its hit or miss, maybe 50/50 shot I land it.

You mean to tell us it's unmonitored? Well that will change the scope of the thread.

It's not monitored by me, there are other mods though, ya know...

I figure you guys can police yourselves and are pretty mellow anyway... ;)

Pat's right, you would've kicked the competition's ass. Don't make it a goal, just do it! Commit NOW! :D You can send your entrance fee to me, then it's like you already entered... ;)

My technique goal this season is to be more mellow 8)

I don't even know where to start. Most of my goals are bump oriented. I think not steering with my upper body, tighter stance, and keeping my keeping my eyes 3-4 bumps ahead is a good place to start After that who knows, upper/lower body separation or A&E?

i am getting a prior ATV but dont know if i am going to use it with hardboots. i have not worn them since my racing days and i never liked them. i always felt like i was losing a point of suspension in my ankles. coaches be dammed. i took me two years to get my time down to like when i raced in softies. so if i get hardboots get more comfortable in them.

not steering with upper body = upper/lower body separation

This is something you need to master in order to take the next step. This season should be another breakthrough one for you.

i wont call them goals but i'd like to correct the way my hands fly around in the bumps and i'd also like to stand up taller. I compensate for my ass being over my heels by bending forward.

that and take some of the bash and crash out of my bump skiing. problem there is that its fun and i do ski for fun so...........

ok so i picked up my new boots and skis from alpine haus yesterday and i'm all primed for ski season. I had put together a short video of various clips from last year. I'm gonna put last years vid up now and compare that to how this year shakes out over time. I always talk about correcting my hands and getting more forward but never do anything about it. this year is the year. and now i have to put my money where my mouth is, so to speak.

07 - 08 flailing in the bumps.

It's good to have goals.....but I would hardly call what I am watching 'flailing'

you definitely kill it in the bumps

not sure it is "technique" but i want to get better/more comfortable in the air. i can throw a cheezy spread eagle but that is about it. i have dreams of a helicopter (360 to you young folks).

Cool vid man. Not that I'm at all qualified to offer advice, but I think you know already what needs work. You've got the turns, stance, and even the A&E down. What separates you from guys like 180 or powbmps is quieter hands and less crouching. The guys that can ski bumps tall and with a totally quiet upper body are amazing to watch.

maybe flailing is a bit excessive but you know what i mean. its all relative to where you are and where you want to be. When i ski, i feel like i have decent shin pressure and relatively quiet hands but then i see the evidence and its definitely not where i want to be.

btw, alot of that is from your vids, i hope you dont mind.

Of course not. That's why I shoot vid of AZers so they can do whatever they want with it. I think I spied some footage in there that I never used in any official vids. Yard Sale at Snow I think.

Getting pumped for the season. I hope the Sundown bumps are up early. I plan to spend a lot of time there, perhaps even forgoing trips north unless the conditions are really good. Think COLD!

Aside from continued improvement in the bumps this is my biggest goal as well. I've always been a chicken about being in the air, no matter what the sport. I'm trying to overcome that silly fear, both in skiing and MTB. I can barely pull of something that loosely resembles a spread eagle (more like dumper air as Greg calls it). My goal is to be able to pull off a solid spread and go from there.

i prefer to label myself conservative rather than chicken ;-)

we got a trampoline this fall (used for $50 from a friend who was moving). i told my wife it was for the kids but secretly i was hoping to help improve my air-ness by using it. notice i used the phrase "was hoping". First day on it i sprained my knee

seeing how i missed most of the summer with a broken collar bone now i'm gun shy about going back on the tramp for fear of really screwing up and affecting the upcoming ski season.

getting old sucks.
