Tenney Mt New Website

Fail! Their old web site was better than their new one. They need a new trail map quite badly to. As much as I dislike Tenney Mt in general it is the best place to go on powder days . There is never anyone there. Slow lift though. Pays off on powder days. Otherwise ski Cannon, Attitash, SR, SL, WV, and Wildcat! Tenney Mt's management is almost as bad as Booth Creek who owns Waterville.

You do realize that coming onto an internet forum with the sole purpose of blasting something with your very first post really discredits your position? Kind of comes off like a teenager's angry blog about their teacher :lol:

I found the management at Tenney and employees to be fantastic. Friendliest of any area I went to last winter.

Unlikely I'll ski there this winter because of the slow lift, but I had six great days there last year. Well worth the $99 I spent for it.

I have nothing wrong with Tenney Mt's staff their great just how the mountain advertises itself. Not that I would like them mountain to become advertised...

I like the new website.....certainly not the best I've seen but for a mtn like Tenney who likely doesnt have an unlimited budget, I think it works well.
Looks new and fresh and provides lots of relevant info that is easy to locate.....seems to fit the criteria of a good website to me

As an aside, their season pass prices are quite aggressive so here's hoping for them some folks jump on that.

I personally don't care for the mtn...the dbl is slow and I feel it skis much smaller than its 1400' of vert would suggest due to the extended flat area at the top.
Having said that, I could definately see it being fun on a powder day by yourself!

There are several problems immediately. They have used a fixed width design. The right side of the web site is chopped off on my monitor (fine if I close my bookmarks, but I always browse with them open). I can not even imagine what that page would look like on a smaller monitor. Second problem is the site requires the latest version of Flash. Never a good thing, I can not see the animation (not that I would probably want to any way, but if there was content in the Flash, I would be out of luck... or rather Tenney would be out of luck on communicating something).

I like the quick links to ticket pricing, conditions, and the trail map. They should be up top not down on the bottom. Also, too many words on the front page. Two VERY big and long paragraphs. You should never write important information in big blocky paragraphs, it will not get read. Especially not on the front page.

The Blog link does not work.

The sub pages all have good images but no banner image on the front page. That looks odd and very plain.

Overall, the web site is functional. I hate to be such a harsh critic, but it looks like they are paying someone to do this work (New England Artist according to the tag on the lower left corner) and it blows my mind that companies actually make money selling these types of web sites to businesses that do not know any better. Quite sad, actually. Makes me think I should start trying to make some money on the side because I know I could do a better job than that!

But it is quite functional. Less flashy than their last page and the information is easy to get to without hardly any clicks and laid out in a good organizational structure (much as I am not a fan of side navigation, but that is more personal style than anything).

Any ways, I think everyone here is hoping Tenney can get things together whether or not we like the mountain itself. It is the best mountain in New England for a lot of families... many of whom have never heard of the mountain.

I saw their new site over the weekend. I was gonna take some credit (along with AZ for providing the forum) for the upgrade, due to my poking fun at the old site here a week ago.

It is a start. Obviously they have not started the blog. Or put the employee pics and bios in. It could be read as an allegory for the mountain itself. Semi-functional, dated, lacking features, etc.:razz: Hopefully they don't outsource the maintenance on the Hornet to the low bidder.

Oh well, so what there website sucks. They are still the Berkshire East of New Hampshire and that works for me. No lines, cheap, and great after it snows.

Old threads die hard. I know I saw something from onthesnow about "Tenney Mtn to be closed for the season" last month. Had a mild panic attack because I have 3 passes for the familia, and they were twice as much $ as mine was last year. Then I saw the date.

You can also come across older info about the snow magic snowmaking system and how they will be the first to open, last to close and will offer summertime skiing and riding!

Tough to stoke it when you are dealing with lotsa ashes and few coals.

+1 on what Steve says.
I would never let a design go out the door this way. There should be no links that don't work, don't include content fill-ins, costs little to keep them off. It looks like a site that is still in proof of concept stage. I don't think flash should be used to communicate essential info either.

Ever think about asking a paying customer to QA the site before it goes live? That's the real test. It's free.

Looks to me like the developer just wanted to get something out the door to checkbox his/her deliverable. From a Tenny perspective, it looks like they just wanted to have the ecommerce site up and running.

Agree it's functional, but it leaves a bad impression for the first-timer.
