I used these last year. In fact, I've used them for lots of live events (i.e., Head of the Charles Regatta results received shore-side) Execution depends greatly on the resort. You can end up with a lot of garbage, you know, 1" new snow... It would be most useful if they allow you to select a) day(s) of week to receive report, b) minimum number of inches of new snow received in the last 24 hours.
The timing is also critical. Some report it at closing each day, some in the wee hours by the groomers (the right way to do it), some report it too late, like 9am.

These services can be very useful, although if the telcos succeed in having *sending* a text message cost money to the sender, as well as the receiver (depending on their service plan), you may see an end to them pretty quickly.

Something like Twitter would be good, if they ever get off their collective #$%! and get it working correctly again.
