Why does PA keep electing this moron?

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/content/news/epaper/2005/04/21/m1a_wx_0421.html

No no, really, the GOP is all about protecting and serving the people. Not corporations, really. it makes perfect sense to keep the NWS from distributing its information to the people who already paid for it. Accuweather, which does such a great job with its forecasts, deserves to be able to charge us for what we've already paid for. Really.

And in other wonderful Congressional news, $81B more for Iraq and Afghanistan, plus the energy bill passed, doing nothing to reduce our consumption of oil, and extends DST 2 more months! It's a wonderful day for the US.

Maybe I'm just grumpy this morning.

Wow. I didn't even know that was going on. I can't believe what's happening to this country. Forget about my dream to move to VT or NH. I'm getting the hell out of the country!

Don't leave, BeanoNYC- we need as many outraged PO'd people as we can get to try to put a stop to this nonsense.

It's the downside of actually getting out of bed when the alarm goes off, BobR- I had time to actually watch the morning news while drinking my coffee. Well, while fighting the urge to throw the cup at the TV, anyway.

Your morning news has some redeeming quality to it? We are pretty much forced to watch the local Fox Station since they cover the local weather and traffic, and there isn't much great info in between these recurring themes:

1. Minorities are bad, they steal cars. That's news.

2. Teachers/education system is bad...spend less money on them.

3. Car chases are great to catch on TV.

4. Always something involving food...

I hate it how I don't even know what is going in state politics, which is kind of important. Pretty pathetic that I know what is going on in a small "hick" state as VT and can't figure out what's going on in this "progressive" state. Isn't it ironic?

I usually have Headline News on in the morning. Only redeeming quality is Robin Meade. She's a cutie. Would be best to watch with the sound off, I think.

Yes, the cute anchors is a good thing

Just wish they'd say things that matter.

I'm an NPR junkie. :dunce:

trailboss, get rid of that tv! you stop complaining about it and then life is good. :) i used to be an NPR junkie until i couldn't turn on the radio without getting worked up about the latest story such as this one. it's so sad there is so much outrage but it doesn't seem to matter... just gotta keep in mind that bad things always reverse themselves eventually. just look at prohibition :)

First the geographical restrictions on chocodile sales, now this!

My wife has dual citizenship with here and Norway. I could easily move over with a work visa and learn how to Telemark IN Telemark! Eat your heart out DMC. :p

I think PA residents (and Mary Jo Kopechne's relatives) probably have the same feelings about Ted Kennedy. :-?

Aww, Ted's just a harmless old drunk. Yeah, a few skeletons in the closet, some shady deals, but overall, he's been great for Mass, and he hasn't really hurt the country, either. He does some good work overall. Seniority can be a good thing.

Google "Santorum" sometime, and see what santorum is, not in relation to the Representative, though the two aren't necessarily all that far apart.

The effects of that bill would totally suck for our company. We rely on the NOAA/NWS live radar images daily. We have a PC at each plant locked on to their live images all day long. We use it to tell our paving crews when a line of showers is approaching/leaving, or when potentially dangerous weather is about to strike. NWS is accurate to within 10 minutes or less, while "live" shots from AccuWeather and The Weather Channel can be as much as a half hour behind.

My question is this: Are Accuwether and TWC currently paying for this information from NWS? The article is right, we've already paid for this service through our taxes. If private weather companies want to solely fund NWS so that we don't have to, that would be great.

If this bill passes, they should be made to pay for the data gathered by NWS. I'm all for free enterprise, I just hate it when big corporations get to have their cake for free eat it too.

Should probably eliminate Social Security, too, just hand it over to private 401(k) companies.
Wait a minute....
