Being that I live 45 minutes away from Wawa... I am looking for some convincing to get the $209 season pass good for certain midweek and all night skiing days. With 8 days to go... Do I pull the trigger or not :)

Sky and myself will be there every Thursday night for racing. Join us after the races for a little cruising and then beer! You can also PM Sky as he has a GPS club.

Oh and with the pass you do get some pretty good discounts at other mtns. Including Alta, I think it was $26 anytime last year.

seems pretty reasonable, esp since you could easily blow $209 in one night at Vail...

Go for it. It's a great place to blow off some steam after work. A number of AZers have a GPS Club and you can get a bronze pass for $199 until Nov. 18.

Wa-loaf/Sky, any interest in forming a team?

We've already got one, but there might be an opening. Sky is captain so drop him a PM. Thursday night is our race night.

Really depends on how many times you'll actually get there. FWIW I also doubt you can get to Wachusett from Waltham in 45 mins during rushhour; I'd count on closer to an hour. I had the Bronze last year but decided against it this year. I liked having the pass, because it helps motivate me to go even when its just a meh kind of day. That said, I only made it there 5 or 6 weeknights. Some of those were in March when night rates dropped. I decided this year that I will go with their discount card (which I get free from AAA). I think it saves $8/night. Last year I broke even, I'll see how this alt approach does this season.

The pass as others mentioned gets you some nice discounts at other mountains. Think its 25% off on weekends/50% weekdays at places like Sunapee/Okemo. They are listed on the site, so that may be enough to convince you to go for it.

What you talkin bout WIllis? :> If by "team" you mean Race Team....I may have an opening.

If you mean joining a group to get the discount ($199 till 18 Nov)... e-mail me @

Skyjgiven@gmail.com

Anyone else interested?

Wa-Laof mentioned Alta....but for those with a lesser travel budget, Wa's discounts (up to 50%) work (for when your pass is good) @ Sunapee, Okemo, Stratton, Sugarbush, Burke, Jay, SHawnee Peak...and Jiminey Peak....Windham, Holiday Valley and Bristol in NY.

For what Wawa has to offer, at $209, I'd have to plan on being there a minimum of 8 times to consider buying it. It's not worth more than $25 to me for what is there. It's doubtful I'd make it there 8 midweek nights with what they currently offer. I'd get bored pretty quickly skiing 10th Mountain, Smith Walton and Conifer. If they had good bumps, I'd ski there much more.

Well I decided I am going to take the plunge this year and see how it works out. Based on the figures, I would need to go there at least 5 times this season to make it worth while. So long as I get out once a week, I will be happy. Now deadhead mentioned the idea of skiing Connifer, 10th Mountain and Smith Walton, might get boring after a while, but I see it as an opportunity to get some turns in when I am not at the big mountains. :) Thanks to everyone here!

I wouldn't tout Wa as a destination resort to anyone. Just like I don't plan to go to Pat's Peak etc.

But to keep me on snow, give me a Race League once a week with pals, a place to hit a few mid-week mornings before going to work...a place to ski on weekends (early AM or after supper) w/o a hotel bill or housing expense....it's an offer I can't refuse.

And to the folks who live close to Butternut, Pat's Peak, etc...I'm certain they feel the same.

Yeah, I'll probably do it. Especially now that I know I have the opportunity every Thursday night to come and heckle a giant and a Scandanavian all in the same night.

Same here, it is the closest thing to me besides the daunting 150' vertical of Yawgoo.

For certain people's life circumstances, no doubt Wa is a great option. Not knocking those who ski there.

Heck, my 'home' mountain this Winter is the mighty Ragged. Why? great price: $329, decent trees, no crowds and at 1:25 minutes, I can go ski there on a Saturday morning, get in 12-15 runs and be home by 2 to spend the afternoon with the wife.

I bought mine just the other day.

I'm still a noob, last season was my first, so I'm using it as a way of progressing quickly (or quicker) this season. Let me get up there, hopefully, a couple nights a week, work on my abilities. Getting bored of the terrain isn't so much of an issue for me, because there are areas that I want to work on, and I think I can do that at Wawa.

This was me two years ago.

The biggest one-day improvement I ever made with my skiing was when I skied with a few people from this board (Zand, Marc, Wa-Loaf, awf, and I think there was one or two more).

Wa is a great spot for doing what you want to do.

Enjoy it, and I'll probably see you there at some point this winter.
