i dont think you realize who you are talking to. really best to just not engage.
This. We are talking about one person. We used to have a saying here--don't feed the trolls.

And back on topic, it shows how dire things are revenue-wise. The east coast is doing well, but out here it is just unreal how low the snow is.

I wonder what Vail will do, if anything to try to entice people to ski and ride?

i am really glad i booked banff/rev as my big trip - for the second year in a row. they had a really strong early season, will get elevation dependent snow this weekend, and then seem to have the best chance of overcoming the ridging into mid feb. i go 2/15. id be so bummed and hopeless if i was counting down a trip to pretty much anywhere in the western us. random thought - i like that the olympics will be on tv during my trip

Alterra is picking up his bar tab and TB still finds a reason to complain.

Ikon is going to be just fine, because the season pass model prevents worst case scenarios from occurring.

So is this promotion only targeted to specific people? I did not get any e-mails about it.

Sugarbush wants you to buy the expensive "exclusive bar" package not give you free money.

I've only used my Ikon pass twice this year so maybe its targeting people whose home mountain isn't Altera owned?

I have received multiple e-mails about that!

They certainly could be targeting people skiing less than a certain number of days so far on the pass...that was one of the thoughts I had.

One of our best trips ever years ago to Banff. 4 nights at Chateau Lake Louise and 4 nights at Banff Springs. Some eerie runs in the fog following the blue square signs down the trails. Played pond hockey with the staff on the lake behind the Chateau as the sun was setting behind the glacier. Thought I had died and gone to heaven.

I'm also thinking the email went to people who haven't used their pass much. I didn't get the email and I've skied 40+ days. My friend forwarded the email and he skiis Killington and hasn't used his ikon scans yet.
CD I just went to the site and it let me register. YMMV. Haven't seen pts yet but pretty sure that doesn't happen immediately.

Definitely prevents the worst case, but all ancillary revenue is getting its teeth kicked in.

Food & beverage, rentals, ski school, lift tickets, retail, you name it.

I'm not so sure about that. Down yes, almost suredly, but the Indy's I've been working with recently have been holding relatively strong, some even seeing revenue increases.

That said I'm not in UT where I'm sure the problem is particularly acute, but both Ikon and Vail are diversified enough, and again so reliant on pass revenue, its not a company killer like it would have been in the 80s.

I'm hoping that maybe there is a hold or maybe a discount on pass renewals. Guess we find that out about a month from now.

It's been bad out there this year, but it's only been one season so I'm not concerned about it.
