I'm looking at going up to Stowe for Sat and Sun since they are CSC awareness days. The snow report claims a pretty deep base and that they've been getting refreshers of a few inches here and there. Anyone have first hand knowledge?

I don't really want to make the drive and spend the money on a hotel if it's not going to be fairly good. Might just head back to Mountain Snow (as Scotty would say) if Stowe won't be worthwhile. Just want the best bang for my buck. Any other suggestions?

Stowe claims 3"-4" overnight with a light drizzle earlier this morning. Don't know if they got the change over to snow yet because their webcam isn't very good but looking at the Sugarbush cam it appears they already have the change over to snow. I would expect the gondola (Perry Merrill) to be online this weekend since lift tickets go to full price Fri. I'll be at Stowe Fri. but won't be able to report since I have no online access when in VT. Have fun whatever you decide to do. My plan this week is K tomorrow, Stowe Fri., back to K Sat. & Bromley on Sun. since we have a few early season freebies we want to use.

That'd be a very long heli ride.

Weather looks pretty good up at Stowe so I booked a room for Saturday night.

Meh, this storm was a net gain but really a warm storm. Yesterday was great, today, not so much.

I do like the overall pattern, we need cold to set in

Eh, if I'm going to drive 3+ hours I'd rather go to Stowe, especially when I can get cheap tickets. I hope everyone has a good weekend though, wherever you make your turns.

Stowe was nice Fri. They didn't open the gondi though. It was running but no loading. Plenty of cover on Perry Merrill but it hadn't been groomed out yet, I'm sure it opened Sat. They were blowing upper gondolier so they'll add that soon also. Blowing main street over at Spruce as well as something over on Big Spruce, couldn't tell what but saw snow in the air. Nice day, sunny , comfortable temps, not a breath of wind & next to no one there. They have to slow down the Forerunner chair, to easy to do to many laps in a short period of time & were not talking short laps. Kicked my ass.

Yes, Perry Merrill opened up on Saturday. The Sunny Spruce Quad opened up as well and there were 3 different ways down off of that. They also opened up part of gondolier ungroomed with huge whales on Saturday. Everything was super soft and it snowed all day.

They groomed out everything except Centerline for today and gondolier was open from the top of the gondola to about halfway down. They were blowing on lower gondolier today so that will be open soon. The groomed surface was generally hard with some packed powder and which made it great for high speed cruising.

Solid amount of terrain open for early December, can't wait for the storm this week!

I can't believe I'm saying this but if the current models are on point then Tahoe will actually be on this next weekend. Nice thick pasty base covering the steep upper elevation stuff, three feet of cold pow on top will make for FINE early season skiing. Please, just this once don't bust....we need normal.

I put up a trip report if anyone wants to read it, but the gist is that it was a pretty good weekend. Saturday was soft and snowy, Sunday firm and cold. Not bad at all for early December.

The storm on the way could be a good one. The northern areas are only a good dump, maybe two, from being fully open. Might even get some December glades riding soon. :snow:

Several glades at Bretton Woods in play already. While on the flat side, it was still nice to get in the trees on natural snow yesterday.

+1. Cover at Bretton Woods is excellent. Everything will be buried after this next storm.

I have no complaints at all for this early in the season. Let's hope that things continue to go well.
