I was in search of some three pin XC skis. Found a pair that is almost new...$36.00 at the used sporting goods store.

Then I scored a pair of 31" Tubbs Snowshoes. $54.00 after discount.

The skis had only seen snow maybe a handful of times. Base is immaculate. Snowshoes have some wear, but in good shape.

I just never got into the cross country thing.....I tele but just have too many winter hobbies to sacrifice quality downhill time to cc. Other than the physical benefits, what's the draw?

Sweet skis. Haven't seen a pair like those in a while. Definitely need to at least get out once on XC skis this year.

Growing up I used to CC ski on some horse trails that went otherwise unused during winter. Out the house door, across a couple fields, and nice, gently hilly solitude. It's quiet, relaxing, and can have a serenity like I've not seen elsewhere.

But then again, I completely agree that if I have the option of XC skiing or downhill, I'll downhill just about every time. Seeing as how there's never enough snow in central CT to cross-country ski and I'd have to drive an hour anyways, it's downhill all the time for me.

XC Ski: I own the shoes and have some places nearby that I can use after work and when DH is not an option. It does not take much snow to XC either.
