Where: Snow Ridge

When 2/16/11

Conditions; Packed pow and some freshies-- no lift lines

Me and my B-I-L Had a free passes today for Snow Ridge, so we hit the slopes .this am .
Haven't been to the Ridge in 4 yrs an dits under new mgt . Retro vibe , Classic Hall lifts , No lift lines AND FREE passes for us 500 ft vert all headwall stuff

Great day, 25 high speed runs in a nice soft pow /pp base we had first turns today at "The Ridge" . Some see this as a mini Alta because of some massive pow dumps it often gets off Lake Ontario

Today was super, nice mix of groomed and natural today . No lift lines all day and altho small it is one continuous fairly steep headwall 500 vert , no breaks in the falline at all .So the action was great for getting ready for some bigger stuff later this coming week at Tremblant.

We'll be back since we get FREEBIES every Wednesday as a reciprocal deal

Some photos taken by the Queen - sorry no telephoto lens

Warp,

Pics bring back a lot of memories from my high school years skiing there with my family. I think that last time I skied there was when the 1980 hockey clinched the gold against Finland. Thx.

Wow, how did you deal with the massive mob of people?

I'm loving all these obscure little area reports lately.

Hey Puckster glad u enjoyed it , lots of us North County types have been weaned on the Ridge and on occasion 'specially after a major dumpage it can be a great day of skiing as you know !

Bill _ actually a busload of school kids did show up for PE class -- it was hilarious all these Starter Jacket n'Jeans wearin HS macho jocks all pumped up with adreniline and ego and boasting how they were gonna surf the Gnar :D on their boards and terrorize the

To cut to the chase -- The Ridge on its North and South slopes OFFERS NO relief--- its a farkin headwall and the eyes on these kids when they hit the breakline were like saucers and they were absolute CARNAGE !!

I mean it was Asses and Elbows in every direction, Butts n' Boards all pointin skyward and after falling all the way down the headwall a few times , their respective egos were in serious erectile dysfunction :D

Later we notice they migrated to the benign slopes of the Little Mtn area

They used to hold Church services on Sunday. Way back when. Is it still there?

Yeah i thinks so Puck !! $ sure there is a the little church there in Houseville . The Ridge still is all about Friends ansd Family . Yesterday i met and skied with one of the instructors who KNEW 3 of my ex SLU puckster and the Dartmouth ex racer that i ski with regularly. Funny -- small world but hey that is part of the vibe there and at many smaller venues .

The guy was heading to Vail for 2 months this weekend , one of the former locals a very goodlooking young lady who this guy ( my age ) trained .. Apparently the extended family owns a series of ski boutiques and a line of very high ticket ski clothing . He and his wife are renting ONE of her several condos . he showed me her glamour shots in the catalog In the catalog i saw yesterday SNOW Ridge was mentioned since they were originally from that area

They used to hold church services on the hill in small open building. I think it may have mostly Easter or Palm Sunday or other special services. I think it was over near Amazing Grace looking at the trail map. I can't remember for sure. BTW, the last day skied there in 1980 was a pow day too.
