Travesty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AL MVP was announced today...they robbed Jeter and gave it to that guy from the Twins, Morneau.

Total BS...that guy has one good season and he gets the MVP? Horsecrap! Jeter has been an MVP for a decade and totally earned that award this season. One writer put Jeter in SIXTH place! That guy should be shot.

I heard one guy say Jeter didn't get it because A-hole got it last season. That would be the icing on the cake.

I hate these judged/voted awards. Always political.

I am bitter.

I don't feel to bad for him...Whats his contract? 5 YR 125 Million?

I was just thinking that nobody has responded but that the first person who does will tell me he doesn't feel too bad for Jeter because of all the money he makes.

Thank you Dave! If it's all about the money, then why bother with awards or playoffs for that matter. The MVP should be the guy who makes the most money and the world championship team has the highest payroll.

But that's totally besides the point. Jeter earned that award and he got jobbed.

At least that fat DH from boston didn't win

hey thats muscle, that fat man is the best clutch hitter out there.. But seriously Jeter deserved the AL mvp, in that 5game series against the Red Sox he got the big hit twice which eventually sank Boston 7 1/2 games behind after the yankees left town.. He deserved it this year more than anyone but got overlooked because of the yankees playoff woes, he got screwed plain and simple.. If the Yanks won the world series u can damn well bet he would have that trophy on the mantle....

The guy from the twins was an after thought on that team. It was Santana and Liriano all the way. Seriously when did you say- boy that morneau will just kill us. Nobody ever pitched around him or was concered when he got on base. An MVP has to carry a team. Morneau carried his glove. Santana carried the twins for three straight seasons. If they wanted to give the MVP to a midwest player they should have given it to Santana.
Whatever. Jeter has rings.
Oh- and as for that fat DH- he's got ten less homers and 25-30 less RBI's a year without manny behind him. Manny is just unreal and he makes ortiz WAY better. He's the jordan and ortiz is the pippen.
(P.S. after Ryan Howard - GO PHILS!- won the MVP I honestly thought how soon my team would lose him to injury or the yankees.)

Jimmie G -

OK, I'll do the right thing, but I won't enjoy it.

<<(Squeezing my temples in agony as I say it)>>

JETER-DESERVED-THE-MVP-AWARD-INSTEAD-OF-MORNEAU, POSSIBLY-EVEN-MORE-THAN-ORTIZ-IF-THAT'S-POSSIBLE.............

OK - phew - there, I said it. But I don't feel very good about myself right now........;)

Jeter's great. If he wasn't so damned good, there'd be nothing to talk about. The guy's a winner and I freakin' hate how good he is and how good he makes the other guys on his team. Somebody else hit it right on the head about Morneau - he's the 3rd best player on that team. Big deal. Someone hits .345 every year. Just cuz he's not a Yankee doesn't mean everyone should vote for him just to even up some score. And then there's David Ortiz. Fat? Guess again. You Yankee fans would kill to have him in pinstripes. He'd hit 100 homers a year at the Stadium. And he's big and bad even when Manny takes his twice-a-season vacations, thank you very much. He's a great hitter, not just a great slugger. He suffers since he is "only" a DH. But I'd take him on my team any day.

Why thanks to most of you guys...I feel better about it now.

Upon reflection, I think Jeter lost it because of the perception, true or not, that he is at odds with A-hole and that he should have embraced that other loser because he is the team captain.

And there is some truth to that.

oh, please....you don't get an MVP award based on an outstanding career. That's what the Hall of Fame is for. You get the MVP for your performance in a given season. Look, both guys had a great season and you could even argue that neither of them were the most valuable on their own team, but take Morneau away and the Twins are in last place. Take Jeter away and the Yankees probably still make the playoffs. Morneau put up some sick numbers in bringing his team from something like 7 games over .500 and in 3rd place in the division, to something like 30 games over .500 and a division winner. I was calling this one back in September. I'm just glad the writers got it right and didn't fall victim to all the hype coming out of NY.

One writer put Jeter in SIXTH place! That guy should be shot.
Welcome to the club. George King, a NY writer, omitted Pedro Martinez from his ballot entirely in 1999 and Ortiz was voted as low as 7th in this voting.

I hate these judged/voted awards. Always political.
agreed...especially when some writers have an agenda....

Here we disagree...the Twins came back because of their pitching, not Morneau. And the Yankees would never have made the playoffs without Jeter. He almost singlehandedly killed the Red Sox in that key 4 game sweep.

I would agree only to a certain point. The Twins losing Liriano was a killer, even though Santana was phenomenal (and probably their MVP, but let's face it, a pitcher won't win an MVP). I think Morneau had as much to do with them winning the Central as Santana did.

The Sox were already falling out of contention due to injury during that 5-game sweep. Jeter was an absolute monster in that series, but I think the Sox were well on their way to being toast. With all the problems the Sox had this past season, the Yankees were winning the division.

Yeah, very detailed, very pro-Jeter.

I kind of got over this by last Wednesday though...people are still debating the outcome?

These folks need to get out and ski.

The Twins hit too, thanks to Morneau & Mauer, otherwise at best they would have played .500 ball since the two aces could only pitch at best half the games with a four man rotation. Morneau hit for average & power. With Varitek & Posada getting older, wait & see how much money they throw at Mauer when he is a free agent if he stays healthy.

Jeter was very good this year, more deserving than A-Rod last year, most years, the MVP in the Bronx is Rivera, hands down. Ortiz should have been MVP in 2005 although 54 HR's is a lot outside of the Roid Era.

For a pitcher to win the MVP they will have to go 25+ wins & an ERA under 2, IMO. Mo deserved it at least once in his career, if he can't win it being lights out automatic, what reliever is deserving? In the last couple of years the Sox have had minor success against him but watch them play anyone else & the batters are afraid, very afraid.
