I have it only on my left lower calf musle. I think it's from tight boot straps and skiing on heels when making right turns..I do spend five continuous hours outdoors also. No pain, or swelling (yet) and it's slightly sore.

Any healing tips? Will a blood clot head to my lungs or head?

My brother in law had similar turns out it was a spider bite but on his forearm ... it was the size of a baseball but then went away within about 36 hrs

Don't fool around.

Your condition requires immediate medical attention.

I don't understand these comments. I get banged up and bruised all the time. Especially this season. On oh, such forgiving base snow. Sounds like a poorly fitting boot.

Are you in pain? Did you take any other good falls this year? Does your foot slide around inside the boot? Do you crank your buckles down as tight as you can? How do you ski? Do sit back often? All of these are signs of poorly fitting boots.

Other things to consider, perhaps you hyper extended forward?

Good luck.

I suggest seeing what happens to your right lower calf muscle if you ski on your toes making left turns.

Was in the stash last week at Killington and dropped off this feature called the cliff...Was like a 30 foot drop onto a flat porcelain landing...Jammed my left toe and the toenail turned black...What should I do?

Nah, just need to remove the toenail with some sturdy pliers. If it's still firmly attached try forcing a screwdriver (flathead, philips would just make hamburger of your toe) under the nail to loosen it up.

That toenail will fall off all by itself, then the 2nd one that grows back will probably fall off too (50/50) after the 3rd toenail grows in you'll be good to go.

You need to follow the Skiers Safety Code...never safety break in teh trees with fewer than 3 people. If you had followed the code I'm sure one of your buds would have warned you to stop bogarting, dude.

Depends on if the nail separated from the bed or not. If it didn't separate you can just leave it. If it separated you can stuff some gauze under it for a few days to let it drain while the nail bed heals.
