Extremely low overhead would be my guess. I don't think they make snow. Given the temperature up there, I would guess what does fall sticks around for a long time. And I check their historical snow fall and its not as high as I thought.

They had like 300 inches halfway through the season last year. When they get that lake effect man, it dumps from the sky

I thought they got huge dumps, but I went on a site and they had really low amounts for past seasons. Thanks for correcting me. You'd think I would know not to trust everything you read on the internet....

No snow making and no grooming definitely helps keep the prices down. Their chair lifts were purchased used.

One must remember that Killington has two owners. It's a 80%/20% split on the ski area & an 80%/20% split on the real estate. POWDR being the majority owner of the ski area & SP Land the majority owner of the real estate.

Check this place out on google earth. Lots of southern exposure. I'm sure that's helpful out there in that brutally cold part of the courntry.

I spent 2 winters in Houghton back in the 80s. Bohemia wasn't around then, just Mt Ripley across the river. One season we had 300"+, the other 250"+. There's plenty to go around up there. Way too cold though. We'd hitchhike in -25F air temps. No idea what the windchill was. Long underwear was a way of life.
