Trip Report:
Today was my 1st of 6 Fridays that I go to Wachusett with my school. Conditions were very nice tonight. Crowds weren't too bad, not as bad as your typical Friday night but some lines were a few minutes long for a little while. Not much else to say so heres the trail report.
Conifer: Took 10+ runs down it, each time sticking to the right side, especially at the headwalls. The whole trail down the side was just fluffed up bliss, you couldn't do any wrong in it. Later on at night, some parts at the very beginning were developing ice patches, but after the big right turn it was pure awesomeness. Even if you were in the middle of the trail, there wasn't as much built up, but everything was just perfect for nice turns. Polar Express had a 2 minute wait max and running in 3/4 speed until about 8:00 when they cranked it into full speed. I saw them do it and it made a noticeable difference riding it.
Ralph's: Awesome. Trail was butter top to bottom and it was just perfect for linking some nice short turns. I don't think I've ever had so much fun on that trail.
Challenger: Opened up from the races around 6 and it was very nice for some speed. Not as buttery and more frozen granular, so it was much faster than the previous 2 trails but still just as edgeable and just as fun.
Look Ma: The ugly duckling of the open trails. Coverage is pretty thin the entire way. Conditions weren't too bad, but definitely not as good as the rest. Minuteman had a good 5 minute line most of the night and was running in full speed.
Well, a good day #7 at Wachusett. The weather will dictate if or where I go for MLK Day. If I don't get out Monday, I'll have a Wachusett report sometime in the middle of next week.
