Conditions: Manmade powder, LSGR, frankensnow
Trip Report:
Pretty good visit to Wachusett tonight, my first time out in 2 weeks. Not as crowded as usual and the conditions were pretty good. Ski patrollers are obviously very up-tight now and are currently applying the rules of Conifer to every trail.
Conifer: Went down once. Guns were a pain in the @$$ and it was kind of icy in spots. Ski patrollers were standing in places I've never seen before.
10th: Very good the whole night. A few lumps of powder formed late, but nothing much. Very fast after grooming and that speed held up all night. It was very strange on Lower Salamander. The trail is about 25' wide and only the trail has snow. It's looks just like April.
Smith: Got very first run after grooming. VERY fast with automatic air over all of the hills. Steep got filled with corn fast, but it was good. It was in bad shape before grooming, though. Polar Express was running in full speed with a 5 minute maximum wait all night. It was ski-on for a while which is unheard of on a Friday night.
Frannie's: Went down for the hell of it. Nothing on it, so just a short cut-around. Vickery bowl triple was closed with snowmaking on Piece.
Hitchcock: Probably the worst trail. Icy and tons of frankensnow. It's weird doing down without the park there, but I hope they keep it out.
Look Mom: Park was okay. Still missing many features and I don't think they'll be able to recover this year. 2 of the jumps are professional size. They're huge. Minuteman was in full speed with a 5 minute wait max.
I'll be back up there sometime next week.
