Trip Report: A good night at Wa... My first real powder / chowder experience was an interesting one... It took me a few runs to get used to keeping my tips up yet keeping my weight forward... I took a couple falls on 10th, the best one on my first run of the night... I was having a bit of trouble on the steep part, and I thought I was past the moguls so I turned to bail out... unfortunately there were three more rows of bumps... the first one knocked me into the back seat, the second one pushed me a bit further, and the third one put me on my ass... double ejection, snow all over my mask and helmet (managed to hold onto my poles though, so not a total yard sale)...
Conifer was an interesting experience, they groomed it out while it was still dumping, by the time they opened the trail the courdory was basically filled in with powder... was a fast fun run... I skied it twice...
Took a couple runs on Challenger to get my powder bump technique down... I got in a pretty good groove and went back over to the summit... I hit smith a couple times, and had a great time... it was a challenge, but I survived it pretty well, it was starting to bump up a bit, and it made for a nice fun challenge... I hit 10th again, and it got me again... lower 10th this time... don't even know how it happened this time.
I headed back over to the minuteman side and I noticed that the vickery lift was not turning anymore... I took a run down hitchcock and there was no one around... so I followed someone else's herring bones up to the vickery lift line and poached it... my first poaching experience... I'm guessing the herring bones that were already there were Zand's... Zand?
A great night... though skiing powder is more tiring than skiing groomers... so I'm sitting here with a bottle of wine and the gf... watching the snow fall and maybe a movie.
good times.
