Got there @ 9 expecting conditions to be pretty bad. I was wrong. Apparently Wa had groomed while the snow was still wet, so the corduroy surface was very smooth and totally re-frozen. It was totally edgeable and very fast.
Not many folks there today...not even the usual contingent of "seniors". So with only one trail open off the summit and three off the intermediate lift (and two off the beginner lift) there was still no crowd.
I was amazed that there was no ice. No blue or gray patches. Also, I was amazed that even after the corduroy was scraped off, there was still plenty of texture in the base for edges! Absolutely nothing at all like "sand on plywood" that I anticipated.
So, congrats to Wa on holding on to what they've got.
I made 15 - 20 runs and left with my quads completely exercised. *sweet*
