Can anyone recommend a good walkie talkie/FRS radio set? I want to get some for me and my family.

Thanks in advance.

I used to use Motorola FRS/GMRS models but since cell phone reception at the major resorts has improved I don't carry a radio anymore. All radio models are line of sight so even if you buy the one with the longest range, if there's any kind of bump, knoll or mountain between you and the person you're transmitting to, they won't receive it.

We have a few basic walkie talkies which we used when we had T Mobile for our phone service...once we switched to Verizon cell phone reception is good enough that the walkie talkies sit around unused.

There is an app on the iPhone "HeyTell" which is suppose to be like a walkie talkie, but I was never able to get it to work right.
