I've seen the previews for it a few times and have no desire to see it at all. Am I missing something? What's the big attraction? It looks like every other pixar/animated movie that's come out. There's enough of that crap playing on my TV for my kids. Why would I want to hand over my hard earned money to go see another one in the theaters?
Like I wrote before, I am not a fan of Pixar nor Disney animation and rarely watch these types of movies. This an adults movie that kids can watch rather than a kids movie that adults can watch. I almost wonder how many younger kids will really like it. Some pretty serious topics are covered and not done in a cutesy sort of way. Check out the reviews, it isn't the typical pixar lameo stuff. IMO.

Okay, assuming what you wrote is true (being an adult movie that kids can watch), how is it that I'm supposed to know that from the previews? It looks like a kids movie to me. I'm not one to read reviews, if the preview looks interesting or word of mouth is good enough then I'll consider it. This thread is the first I've heard of the movie aside from the previews and tv spots I've seen. I should also note that I typically save the movie theater experience for action movies and such where the sound system and big screen really add to the effect. I don't waste money seeing comedies and such that are going to have the same effect on my TV screen as they are on the big screen.

BTW - I have no problems with the typical Pixar/Disney movies for the most part. I've watched most, if not all of them. I just wouldn't go to a theater to see them, or even seek them out at a rental place, but if they're on because the kids are watching them, or whatever, I'll sit and watch it.

I might go Friday. Abby's never been to a movie theater so it might be fun for here. Do you guys think it's way over the head of a 5 1/2 year old?

I took my 5 1/2 yr old and my 4 yr old....they liked it as much as I did. :)

careful.....might be opening up a can o' worms there

It'll be interesting when J and I have kids as we both can't stand the theater. I haven't seen a movie on the big screen in four years

Actually, it's rare that we watch movies in general....maybe 1 a month.

There was a lady in the row behind me with 4 kids. They were restless and inattentive during this movie.
I'm not saying that all kids will be unimpressed, but these kids sure didn't seem to embrace it.

Then again, they might just be inattentive kids to begin with.

+1 Abby is an intellectual little kid. I suspect she'll sit quietly and watch the whole movie. She'll probably even fill me in on things that I miss.

This is true. I am an animation lover, thus go to the kids movies frequently. Its pretty rare that kids are inattentive during a really good animation. This movie just didn't seem to be targeted for the general population of kids.

You gotta remember that mine are 3 yrs old and 1 yr old. They're just crazy right now. ;) I'd be stupid to expect them to sit still and be attentive at their ages.

This is definitely a consideration.
The kids sitting behind me were more like 7-10 years old.
The mom wasn't much quieter. ;)

No. I could never imagine taking my 2 1/2 year old to a movie. You want to talk about high energy? She takes after me - but I'm a spaz like that. She should make for a great adventure buddy someday.
