WATERVILLE VALLEY, New Hampshire -- Waterville Valley is turning its mountain pink for a second year to raise funds for Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4. Hoping to better last year's $8,000 contribution, the Pink Mountain will feature a Pink Rail Jam sponsored by Oakley and friends, a Pink Raffle and a Pink Payoll Pledge organized by resort employees.
Waterville Valley's terrain park crew will host the Oakley Rail Jam for B4BC on Sunday for skiers and snowboarders. Registration is from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. and includes a lift ticket, goodie bag stuffed with sponsor swag and a pink product toss. The resort will donate the full $40 registration fee to B4BC. Pink outfits will be rewarded.
New this year is the Ultimate Women's Set–up Auction" of women's snowboards, boots and bindings. Burton Snowboards has set the bar for donations by giving a Natasza Zurek set-up of snowboard, boots, and bindings and an autographed jacket. More women's specific boards will be in the raffle from Rome, Atomic, Roxy, Salomon, Rossignol, Flow and Forum. Pink Raffle tickets will be sold all weekend for a chance at the equipment plus a Thule rack, gear from Volcom and Eastern Boarder, Spyder, hiking boots from Merrill, goggles from Smith, Oakley and Electric, helmets from Giro and Leedham and more. Boston's KISS radio hosts a Pink Apres Party at T-Bars on Sunday. Special edition B4BC bandanas sponsored by Hard Rock Cafe and pink wristbands will be on sale.
Boarding for Breast Cancer is a non-profit, youth-focused education, awareness and fundraising foundation. Their mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection as well as the value of an active lifestyle. Waterville Valley employees support the event resort-wide by donating one or more hours on Super Bowl Sunday to B4BC. Over 180 employees participated last year.
