I just had 2 SKI magazines arrive in my mail and it was addressed to:

Wachusett Mtn Ski Resort
(My address)
Leicester, MA 01524

Apparently my house is now a ski area! Yay!

I also received the magazines. At the beginning of the month I received a post card stating:

"SKI is pleased to be sending you a subscription. ... You will not be billed for this SKI subscription."

Can't complain about free. Any one know why?

Not a season pass holder but I had recently let my subscription expire.

You Zand...same hear....except there's my name, then Wa's, then my street addy.

Thanks Wa. Looking forward to the ne Lange boot poster if you know what I mean.

These were end of season issues (Feb and Mar?).

Meh! Free (for either being a season pass holder or a group coordinator).

I got two of those cards, too. Not sure why, but I won't complain.
I will be selling season tickets, at prices well below competitors. No snow making and limited verticle, but there are no lift lines in the park behind my apartment.

This tactic is a nice way to boost publication circulation numbers when pitching potential advertisers....

I got the SAME exact thing today, except with my address on it (obviously.) I did buy a seasons pass for next year, but it's not for Wachusett. Maybe it says Wachusett because I live near there?

I got a free subsc. to Ski back in the winter. Not sure why other than I had a WaWa pass like everyone else. I haven't got a new WaWa pass yet so maybe I'm missing out on the renewal, but I like Skiing better (even though they're the same company).

That's exactly what we got and we're not season pass holders at any mountain. We do have some kind of a Wachusett card that gets you a few dollars off every time we visit. Our names and addresses are also probably available via some other ski areas and ski-related web sites.

<- Wa season pass holder, also got the Ski mag subscription.

I just figured if it was a mistake, I didn't want to say anything.

My wife got one with Deer Valley Ski Resort on it. We're definately not passholders there! (although wouldn't mind if we lived close enough to be! ;) )

Last year when we went there, all of my kids daycare reservations were in her name. Realistically just means that ski Mag's NEW parent company bought the lists off some ski areas with generally desireable demographics and are trying to boost subscritpions.

I will admit that when it arrived this past Friday, at first i was like Woo-hoo the first ski mag of the season, then it dawned on me about a second later that its about 7 weeks to early for it!

Have any of you signed up/or filled out a form at skinet.com. That might be another source.

My magazine came with Wachusett in the address and I have only skied there once about five years ago and I doubt they got my name & address for a day ticket.

A possible source could have been something I filled out at the Ski show last year.

Mine had Wa in teh name, too, which is odd, since I've never been there, never filled out any forms related to it, and have never done any business involving the moutnain at all.

While I don't mind getting free magazines (even if I read them both months ago), I don't particularly like making it onto someone's list completely unawares.
