I know times are tough, but I found out yesterday that we're going to be hiring a bunch of sales agents.

Positions are in Jersey, PA (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties) and Delaware. All commission but you could probably make some decent coin if you sell well and close the deal.

PM me if interested and I'll give you more details.

I don't mean to downplay this offer, but hiring folks to work "all comission" isn't really "hiring". There's zero risk and cost to the company, unless there are benefits included (health insurance, etc?)

I'm not really sure...there might be a small base salary involved. I'll find out.

Benefits are included. Medical, Dental, Vision, Tuition Reimbursement, Matching 401k (100% on the 1st 6%), Employee stock discounts (15%)

oh, OK - if benefits are included then its better.

Maybe you're correct...I didn't intend it to be that way though.

I totally am right...

You offer a job but won't say what it is.. If it's selling software.. I may check it out.. If it's selling kitchen stuff JimG may check it out.. If it's selling gravestones... well... u know the rest...

times 2..I don't know of anybody who would work straight commisions..all the sales jobs I had in the past at least offered a modest draw..

Yes and no

There are some sales people out there that really don't care what the product is and just enjoy the thrill of the hunt and closing the deal with earnings potential being all that matters.

That isn't the case for me, I'm in sales, but I need to be engaged in the product.

I would imagine the primary reason Root hasn't revealed the product is to not advertise who he works for, what he does. I'm fairly protective of that information online myself. I think most people know what I do, some perhaps even who I work for, but I don't parade around the internet spouting off about it much.

My brother learned the lesson of the dangers in doing that the hard way. He made some comments on the Gathering of the Vibes board that were 100% supportive of his company and their customer, but the customer had 'watch dogs' online and forced his termination because of some rather benign criticism he offered regarding the red tape of the government agency over seeing the business interaction. 100K job down the tubes over posting on a message board.

And that's why I said if you want more info, hit me up via pm. To be honest, in my opinion it is a crappy job dealing with the general public...I wouldn't want it but given the alternative of being unemployed, I guess it's the better option. To each their own...

I have an email in to the VP for that department on what the pay structure looks like. I'm an engineer, I have no idea how he pays his folks. He gave a presentation at a engineering management meeting I was at and mentioned it to us.

Given the state of the economy and how hard it is to find a job in some markets, I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone would be giving root flack for posting an OPPORTUNITY. Seriously, guys, you're being a little too damn picky. This was really nice of him to do, and he might just be helping someone out big time.

x2, if you want more info then PM Root. He obviously has his reasons for not wanting to post more details here, and I don't blame him.

Thank you both. I was getting tempted to ask the mods to lock/delete the thread cause I really don't need to be getting shit on over this. :-?

I didn't see dhs's post, but wanted to respond. Philpug, check pm.

Ofically, I'm not allowed to post on AVSfourms or DSLReports, because of such issues. There are a group of dedicated support folks who work with people on those boards. I also know that Senior Management (VP's and higher) read those two boards on a regular basis to guage our hardcore customer's opinions...just like I'm sure that the owners and operators of many ski area's lurk on here to look for things that we like and dislike.

One of our engineers actually got suspended for a week for getting engaged in a problem that some dude reported on DSLR. He actually got the problem fixed, after hours and while not on not on the clock or on call and got screwed for it.

So, yes I am protective of my employer on a public message board. On PM, I'll trust that you won't go an post it publically. Meet me in person, no issues.
