I can not remember a better closing weekend. Skied Sugarbush Saturday and Sunday in the 70 degree weather, crystal clear skies and large soft mushy corn bumps. Lots of smiles and all but no rocks. Then the MT pulled out all the stops and had the favorite local band the Detonators play on the mid-MT deck..Glen House. They even let them play an extra long set after the Summit lift closed. You know your a ski bum if you can dance in your ski boots. They also kept the GMX lift open till after five. The MT owner Win even loaded the chairs for us. That is after the deck ran out of beer and he had them empty the cooler at the golf course and bring the beer up so everyone could have an excellent time. Hat off. The MT manager Hardy even ripped a little Hendrix. Talk about a MT going out of it's way for it's loyal followers.
Went to Kmart yesterday. A bit anticlimactic. Absolutely had to use rock skis on both runs down. Plus they had recently groomed some of the better bumps down.
It was fun to close two hills in a row...but saddens me to think I will not get any mid-May snow beach bumps like in past years. The ASC $$ cutting cost showed in the lack of snow on Superstar.
Of the two hills Sugarbush with out won as the best closing ever!!!
The next time I will be on skis will be in the Andie's.
