I've seen corn, mashed potatoes and plain slop, but i cant imagine what affect 100 degrees has on snow. There must be rivers running down the slope.

The summer of 1988 was one of the hottest on record for America, and for the Pacific Northwest it was unbearable and with no A/C at Timberline Lodge the place was like an oven.

I remember it being 99F on Palmer and 101F on the lower mountain and we could only ski until about 12:30pm or so before it was more water skiing than snow skiing, although Timberline does a good job at salting the runs.

What I remember most about that ski trip was flying above Yellowstone and the smell of smoke entering into the cabin from the huge fires in the park.

This was my brother on Palmer in September of 1988:

I've skied with it in the 80's at Kmart a number of times in late-May and early June. You had to ski with your mouth shut so you didn't inhale the black flies.

Several years ago I skied one fine spring day at Smuggs in 65-70 degree weather. I remember like it was yesterday because the bumps were so huge.
