183 cm K2 Axis X Pros for me. I also have a pair of Dynastar Max Ones (190). Both with Salomon S900 bindings. Boots are Salomon Evolution2s. Only got out on the K2s twice last year so I'm looking forward to getting on them this season.

K2 Merlin IV's 180 cm. Got em a few years ago now. Not a bad ski, I enjoy them, but now I wish I got something else. I'm 6'0 190 and an advanced skier and I feel like I'm constantly overpowering them. I can't take them out west with me or to Europe, too narrow. They're OK in bumps but a bit heavy. Was actually thinking about the K2 Axis X Pros. I've heard a lot of good things about them. Of course as a college student, money's a rare commodity.

I'll get the boarding side of this discussion started...

Ride - Control 162cm

http://www.ridesnowboards.com/

Sold to me as a good all-around basic board that I won't outgrow easily (skillwise). I should be done growing heightwise.

Ride - LS bindings

Basic and durable. On the slope, the latching mechanism looked nicer than some others.

K2 boots

Last years model on discount. Fit better than anything else in the store.

I'm wondering about length.
Does anybody really go over 180 cm anymore?

I pretty much don't go under 180. Most often its wider skis that are skied longer...surface area and better tip float on longer skis, etc...but even on a hard snow ski, under 180 and I feel the ski is too one dimensional - sure, they'll carve a sweet mid radius turn but they don't like to mix it up. The shorter any ski is the more it likes to keep to its particular turn shape...they become less versatile as they get shorter. I find its much easier to make shorter turns on a longer ski than it is to make longer turns on a shorter ski...and I prefer a longer turn radius, higher speeds.
That being said, the average skier typically won't ski anything longer than a 180 anymore. Most retailers are very selective in the models they'll do over 180 cm, the avg length for a men's ski is mid 170's now. Here on the AZ you'll probably find more folks on skis longer than 180 than the avg skiing population.
