What does pressing glass actually mean?

Not a Northeast skier, but have heard this terms come up with my friends in Colorado. I think I get the general meaning through context but can't find it listed in any of the on-line ski/snowboard lingo sites to get the actual definition. Can anyone help fill me in?

We used to use it when your one of the first in line waiting for the cabin cause those are the people that get pushed to the back "pressing glass" after your on and heading up the mountain. I have also heard it used to just mean a crowded tram cabin like pepperdawg said.

I thought it meant going face down on some northeast blue ice boilerplate.

Thanks all. I can finally relax. I had never heard the term and then 3 separate people on the same day mentioned it which I though was weird until now. All were people from Steamboat on the day before the slopes opening.

I thought it meant sliding down a bare ice face, gathering speed...
