ASC mountains will surely be sold of eventually, doubt any of those mountains will go belly up. the selection of answers given are across a broad range from publically funded and financially stable large moutains to family owned small to mid-sized mountains that have been known to struggle (tenney for example didn't even open a few years ago between owners). tenney seems the least stable though considering how uncrowded and under rated black mountain is, that is the mountain of the bunch i would worry for.ASC, obviously.

[sorry]
Tenney.
They are shooting for christmas for the Hornet qua... excuse me, Hornet double.
Ragged should be added to the list.
[/sorry]
They did have nice facilities and there were many tour buses in the parking lot, but my first impressions of the place just were not good at all.I think Ragged is doing just fine. They are small but with the fairly recent base lodge and the 6 pack they seem to be carving out their place.

Last year on opening day I showed up and the sixpack wasn't going as promised in their report. The lift ticket seller said it would be open at 11 or 12 at the latest as they still had some grooming to do. I left. Came back the next day at 11 am and the lift was again not going. I asked the parking lot guys what was up and got the same story. I decided to stick around and started gearing up. A family pulled up and while the kids were going alpine skiing, the mom asked the parking lot guys if there was some cross country there for her. They pointed her toward the golf course. She asked if there were groomed XC trails. The parking lot guys just straight out laughed. "They'd have to hire someone to do that!" one said. "And first they would need some money! hahahha"
The "grooming" they had done seemed to consist of just connecting the dots with the whalers. Most of the run was one snowcat width of death cookies between glare ice whales. It looked very unfinished and was downright nasty to ski.
i have only been to ragged once, shortly after a decent sized dump, and have had nothing but good things to say about the area. i think they meet their target audience need's well and put out a good product.
