This isn't from te True "White Room" on Big Jay but I think it is a good example of how to inhale powder :snow:

I've gotta get up to Jay this season.

Too bad it's so damned far away from me...maybe I'll set up a base camp in the MRV and do a few daytrips to Jay from there.

I had a couple days of waist deep in Utah a couple years ago.. Problem is if your really moving on a board you rise up to the top so at some point it really doesnt matter how deep...

New Years Day 20000

It was the beginning of the best year in the east. I was skiing Rumble in waist deep but cut up when the group dived in. I took a very new steep line only to ski down it and be forced to stop with snow over my head by the snow. It took a while to dig out and finally was able to call my co-hurts to let then know I was OK. Once I was out I could take 5-6 turns before the white out took away all concept of where the 7th turn was. Stop let snow settle then aim again. Ski 5-6 turns stop...wait... That was the deepest I can remember. And it was in the East. Did get several 30-40"deep dumps out west.... Snowbird 1st.

Powder is better then sex...as a married man....sex is part of the plan and regular....powder is very fickled.....Mother nature has her own agenda.

I said that to my wife once. She thought I was crazy until I explained that you can have sex any time; for a weekend warrior/day tripper like me, getting a serious powder day requires a series of cosmic forces to all come together at once. I think that then confirmed for her that I am, in fact, crazy.

DMC Powder Mountain

Ain't that place great. Everytime I go there it's empty, and lots of pow no matter when it snowed last. That looks like a Powder Country run.
I've skied in neck deep pow in utah several times. And alway at least a foot or 2 every time I go there. Prolly why I go there 2 or 3 times every year. We did get some great days here though. Belleayre, Hunter, Plattekill and Killington. It snowed so hard at the K once that they closed it down, except for Bear mountain, which is where we went. This was before I knew how to ski it, so I spent the day on my head.

I have skiied four days in 2'+ deep powder I dont specificially remember which was the deepest but they were all a blast.

First was at gunstock, I was in middle school, possible '90 or '91. I dont remember much from that day just that it was deeper than anyting i had ever skiied.

Second day was on my first trip to alta. It dumped all day long, visibiltiy was no more than 20' at any time. At one point I ducked into the trees and sunk down to my neck in powder.

Third day was at Alpine Meadows after two terrible days at heavenly. I actually met a local that day who showed me around. She was retired in her 60s and skiied a meadows around 100 days a year. I started talking to her on the lift and she spent the day showing me the mountain. The mountain picked up 2 - 3' that day, there was nobody there. Best day ive ever had skiing.

Fourth big powder day was at attitash two years ago in March. They picked up around 2' the night before. I played in the trees all day off the bear mtn fgq. When i arrived there was actaully a woman using their snow guarantee to get a voucher. She was complaining that not enough was groomed. The other thing about that day is they had to cancel a freestyle competition because the pipe had been filled in with snow.

The heck with powder days... I need a powder WEEK like that.

We get those at least once or twice a season. Last few years it happened around Xmas and into Jan. I think we got something like 12' in 5 days. It gets to the point were dumps pile so high in top of each other that there is no longer any firm base underneath and you just go as deep as your skis float you. Skinier skis are actually better as you can get deeper.
