There's ME Route #4...winding up to Saddleback from Farmington, then heading back east on #16 to the Bigelows and Sugarloaf. Follows the upper stretches of the Sandy R. = very nice paddling or flyfishing, but also another photogenic drive in late winter.

There are so many great roads to ski areas. I really like Kangamangus to I93 through Franconia. I know it's two roads, but as a whole, it may be the most spectacular in NH.

Route 89 from South Lake Tahoe to Tahoe City is nothing short of epic... when it's open. Can be downright scary when it's slick.

West- Sea to Sky Highway/Whistler- Jaw Dropping views

East- 242 coming from Montgomery Center to Jay! Watching the snow steadily build up higher and higher and scoping Big Jay from the road is heaven for me.

Well since no one has mentioned it yet, and with the inherent risk of the negativity that comes with mentioning Okemo on this board I'm just gona go ahead and say it. Route 103. It may not meet all the qualifications of a "Ski Highway" but I always feel a sense of relief when I pull off of 91 on to 103. Its not a bad route to Magic either but the Proctorsville Gulf is a cool entrance into Ludlow

I kinda like maple bucket road going to Jay from the south off 100.

Oh & the Icefield Hwy between Banff & Jasper has been on my bucket list for a long time.

Hands down.... VT Route 100

And for those who think it's not a highway, then check this definition:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/highway

No, not a highway in terms of "let's jump on the highway", but technically, I-89, I-91, etc are limited access highways or expressways.

VT 100 isn't so bad, though I don't drive it that much in the winter (in fact, don't drive much at all this time of year - not when I can walk to work in 10 minutes). But last time I headed south on VT 100 was in early November when I was craving some snowboarding and there where the road width is "compromised", as a result of Irene. Not sure its present condition, in terms of potholes and such, but it can get pretty gnarly at times. Still it connects pretty much every ski area in the state (with the exception of 1 or 2), and is very scenic. And never really too much traffic.

yes if not it is just a road maintained by the state with a number not a highway

"A highway is a major road within a city, or linking several cities together. It includes roads known as interstate highway, freeway, motorway and autobahn, where a full description varies by country. Generally, a highway is a road which has multiple lanes of traffic in each direction, often with a physical division (median) between opposing traffic, and separate access ramps to and from the highway which are more widely separated than connections on a standard road and are often grade-separated. A highway may prohibit access by pedestrians and limit what vehicles may travel on it."

so you never drove old US 40, the first cross country highway, how about route 66 or US 1 down the east coast, all existed before interstates all are highways. your use of a modern dictionary doesn;t negate old highways

anywhere off the interstate in VT. relative to other NE states, VT seems to have far fewer state troopers out and about. i hate having to follow every single speed limit sign

302 from Bartlett to Bretton Woods is real nice, especially through Crawford Notch.

Rt. 94 in Jersey and NY. I take it from my house to Mountain Creek, Hidden Valley and Mt. Peter. Ten, 15 and 30 minutes from home respectively.

but in my experience Route 100 is a terrible road--crooked, full of potholes, frost heaves, wildlife, black ice, and it is not as well cared for by VTrans as other roads, especially given its importance.

I hate 100, I mean it services great skiing but sux as a road.

If I have to go to Stratton from Killington for comps etc. I take 7 instead.
