With all due respect, AZ has been online longer than SJ... ;)

SJ, in it's current form was Early 2001. I didn't think AZ shoed up till 2002?

(Besides, SJ is much better, they still have "Be-swift-skier-loose-lumber-roger-jack", or what ever he's calling himself this week

Here's what I've observed.... At least at Hunter...

Some wild ass testosterone filled intemediate comes to Hunter...
And he wants to go to the top! Of course...
But unfortunately the only way down for an intermediate is BeltParkway... Everything else takes some advanced skills to really enjoy... So this guy gets stuck on Belt.. and complains about the rest so he doesn't sound like JUST an intermediate.. Especially Hellgate - which gets the most traffic on the hill...
Complains about the ice because he doesnt have the skills to ski where the snow is...
Complains about the crowds because he's stuck on one trail because he's not advanced enough to enjoy the WestSide...
Complains about whatever he can to save face...

Nodbody wants to be considered a gaper.

In Minnisota today - It's friggin cold!!!..

I suspect the fact that the summit of a lot of mountains is the highest elevation in the immediate area, and since the materials on the top of a mountain (rock, earth, trees, me) are more electrically conductive than air, and are closer to the polarizing plane, lighting naturally discharges to these spots frequently.

:dunce:

Exactly.

AZ was officially started in December 1998 with a lame linear forum being launched in 1999:

http://web.archive.org/web/20000125213605/www.alpinezone.com/skiing/skiforum.mv

The phpBB version from which we converted to the current vBulletin version was started in July 2001:

http://web.archive.org/web/20010722202530/forums.alpinezone.com/

The skiing forums were pretty quiet until around 2003:

SJ was launched in September 2001.
