Its been a tremendous season for this married father of two young girls!!!! I skied more than any previous year since my early 20's. All total I skied 20-30 times...lost track of all of them since my home mountain is only 20 minutes away.

My older daughter who is 7 got her old man (37 years young!!) out of the house and onto the slopes again in earnest. I really had a fabulous time bonding with her. I only hope it continues with her and her younger sister! :argue:

OK here's my list:

Mountain Creek, NJ (season pass/home mountain)
Okemo
Elk Mountain, PA
Stowe
Jay Peak
Hunter

Going to try for Tremblant or out west (Steamboat or Tahoe/Utah) next year with the family. Since my wife does not ski, it will take MUCH convincing on my part!!!

On another note this site is AWESOME! Talking and reading skiing on a daily basis really keeps the fire burning. Kudos to Greg, etc. on a great job!!

Thanks,

Marc

As far as the day count goes, I have no idea. All I do know is that I haven't been home on a weekend since New Years and that I've been at Wachusett at least once a week during the midweek since they opened in November.

If I had to guess, 30+? This number pales to compare to my college days of 90-100+. Sigh...

Hey gore, i had a similar situation to yours, my little sister and i hardly ever got along and we both decided to take up skiing this year and went about 7times together and have spent more time on the slopes bonding than we did in person for the last year.

Mohawk
Southington
Belleayre
Catamount
Butternut
Mount snow
Stratton
Killington
Mont Sainte Anne-quebec

About 20times in all.

Yep, that's how it was for me when my daughter's 1st grade offered a lesson package. Still going "strong" 5 years later at (ugh) 47. Watching her "get it" is so rewarding in its own right.

Here's my season, not a very impressive total but all good days so far, and all comps, bogos, specials or eBay deals

Ragged - 3
Cannon - 2
Pat's - 3 (special thanks to smallberries!)
Bretton Woods - 1
Loon - 1 (this coming Sunday!)

Sugarbush, MRG, Whiteface, Gore, Greek Peak, Song Mountain, Snow Ridge.

Plus Central NY backcountry excursions.

Oh, and that sublime heli-skiing week with Suzy Chapstick....oh, wait, think I woke up from that one with my wife standing over the bed holding a shovel and saying something about the driveway....

Only 1 new one this year, but it was a good one. Spent 4 days in Steamboat Colorado. Arrived 1 day after a 10" storm, but didn't see any snow until the last day (brief storm at the top put down about 2.5"). Had some great Blue Bird skiing though. The trees were nice too.

My local stuff is not too challenging compared to the likes of Killington (last years venture) or the west. However Pennsylvania has a rickety overlooked mountain (Blue Knob) and I got to play on Extrovert. Steep (40 degrees or so), icy, moguls the size of VW's.

I had some great days, but kind of dissappointed I didn't get over to Burke or Whiteface, which were both on my to ski list.

My daughter asked if she could ski with her school program last year. I signed up to drive & chaperone. (I hadn't skied in 30 years) We all took an hour lesson and then skiied the rest of the afternoon. This year we did it again! She's 10, I'm 50.

This year we skied:

Berkshire East 10
Mt. Wachusett 1
Magic Mtn. 1

Skied 2 new ones for me this season - Crotched and Cannon.

They couldn't be more different, but I enjoyed each based on their individual strengths:

Crotched's management has obviously pumped a bunch of money into this little hill (850' vert) to make it attractive for families and beginners/newbies. The rental desk is the largest, cleanest and most user-friendly I have ever seen, even at mountains 3X it's size. The staff could not be more friendly, and we were just walking through to check it out. The lodge, while having the aesthetics of an airplane hangar (huge, sterile - did I mention huge and sterile?) has a nice enough bar on one end, and is very reasonably priced for the standard burger/fries/apple lunch thing. New lifts, new snow guns, excellent grooming and a nice vibe made a terrific day.

Cannon just blew me away, but it didn't hurt that it was the nicest spring-skiing day I've had on the East Coast in 20 years. The fabled Front Four did not disappoint, and the views were simply spectactular. The locals can really ski up there, too. Lots of excellent skiers with big smiles. Not for the faint of heart, but this where you go when you're feeling good about your technique and you want to challenge yourself.

I was satisfied with my season......

Great post! Moved back North 2 yrs. ago. Skied about 10x's with my son last year (now 14). He joind the ski club at school this year and we skied 20+X's. He loves it and has really advanced fast. Skiing is a great way to interact with the kids. I purposely did not go on several club trips so he could/would ski with his friends. (When your daughter is 13 you'll do the same. And then at Christmas and Spring break she'll want to ski with you like my older daughter does now.)
My son broke his hand on his mountain bike this past Thurs. So doing that together is out for about six weeks. He has a cast up past his elbow. But during the past ski season we skied:
Elk Mt. 2
Camelback 1
Greek Peak 1
Plattekill 1
Big Boulder 1
Blue Mt 12+
And for me with 2 old friends:
Killington 2

I'm 44 and have never skied better. Looking forward to being even better at 50.
