ME? I got a house.

We close on the 31st. Mortgage made it out of underwriting. Got a great quote on homeowner's insurance. Looks like it's a go and we'll squeak it in by the end of the year to avoid that nasty tax penalty...

I didn't need a house, I've had one since 1999.

I got a new TV, clothes, an iron, gift cards to several stores, cash and a lot of other things. I'm spoiled rotten!

CompuTrainer bicycle training system. Hooks up to my computer, keeps track of pedaling force, heart rate, power output in watts, and with the Eddy Current resistance unit you can download courses off the web and actually ride the same resistance levels as if you were doing it on the road. This shoud help a lot until I can get back out on the roads again in the Spring. It'll be a big boost for my Triathlon training...I'm registered for Ironman Lake Placid next July 24th.

No Gear, what can you buy someone who has all he needs + some. Buck has a small keychain knife that looks more like a real knife than the tiny Swiss Army one so I may get that to join my whistle & tiny LED light keychain. (LED helps when changing batteries in headlamp when solo.)

We are planning on getting a digital camera (finally) too. With prices & what we budgeted should be able to get 5 or 6 megapixel camera & a decent stick too.

I got my first set of hiking poles. I know, it's sad. But I'm looking forward to using them! Brian got a new digital camera, though...the Olympus one that's weather-resistant. Should make a nice addition to his skiing this winter.

I got a dvd player with surround sound, cash, and the flu. So I bought lots of cold medicine, then laid in bed and watched movies for 5 days.

The wife got me a new sabersaw, random orbit sander, and a shop vac. All to go in the new workshop I've been building over vacation. The shop is almost done. Organizing all of my tools will be a pain...

My biggest present was a programmable remote to go along with the big screen TV and surround sound system that were the "family" presents last year. Nice to have one button that turns on the TV, satellite receiver, and sound system.

We moved into our new home on December 19th. While building this home, the excavator started calling the project "rockpile". Seems he could not put his hoe into the ground with out hitting a huge rock or boulder.

Congrats on the new home, uphillklimber. Building it yourself must have been quite a chore...
Your yard sounds like it's similar to my yard. In my case, I also have tons of small rocks just below the thin layer of topsoil, which makes any kind of digging a chore. I can't even pound stakes into the ground without hitting rocks. :angry:

We got one of these from my sister and it's awesome. We can control the Cable Box, TiVo, TV, sound system, and DVD all with one remote! I haven't figured out how to get the CD player to work with it yet though. I think it's because it's controlled by the tuner somewhat. We were able to trade in four commonly used remotes for one! 8)
