We were at Jay Peak this weekend, and the Green Mountain Flyer chair died midmorning on Saturday, then on Sunday they didn't even open it at all. Word in the lodge was that it was dead the previous weekend as well as some other days in the past few weeks. Anyone know what's up? What kind of mechanical problem it's having?

A friend who was up there on Saturday said the glades to skier's left of the Flyer were in amazing shape due to no traffic. Bummer that it wasn't open. I first though it was wind hold but I guess that wasn't it.

I ended up at MRG instead, sorry we missed you.

According to the Conditions Page on the Jay website:
The flyer should be back on line Monday at 9:00am.

Indeed, that was true. We caught an early tram on Sunday morning before the line got stupid long, and not only did we enjoy having a virtually private run down the trails, but then Beaver Pond was in stellar condition and sheer joy to run. I wish we could have gone back for another run, but after getting down the tram line was already up to a half hour and we didn't want to stand around.

Hell, Jay was absolutely stellar this weekend. The 10" champagne powder dump Friday night was just the icing on the cake. Sorry to have missed you there as well. I love bumps, but now I *really* love trees!

I'll post a full TR later, but we do remain curious as to what particular problem the Flyer had.

Was it down for mechanical reasons or for the wind? If the Tram was running, the GMF should have been as well...unless there were problems with the lift itself.
