Based on your choices, I would say "advanced". I don't have a problem with any groomed blacks, but I still struggle a bit on natural terrain or steep bumps. I am however drawn to moguls and I am improving. Not much of a tree skier yet, and I've never BC'ed.

It's definitely on the to-do list. I've hiked to HoJo's in May once. I have a pretty busy ski schedule the next two months so I doubt I can take much more time off to head up there, but I definitely hope to at some point...

I'm bringing my oldest son David this spring...he'll be 11. Still too young to haul 65lbs up to Hojo's, so we're into day trips until he's stronger.

I marked expert, although I doubt I will ever have a FULL knowledge of the BC.

I answered "Intermediate" but based on the criteria I'm definitely on the low side of that.

I guess I have some catching up to do. :)

I would say advanced. I feel confident on resort steeps, bumps, and woods, provided the conditions are slow and turnable because of powder or spring conditions. But as soon as things get firm and fast, my confidence goes decreases --- I'll get down, but it won't be pretty or enjoyable. On days like that I'll want to stick to greens and blues trying to make carves into the hardpack.

I have no back country experience either.

All of this Tuck's talk is interesting. Been visiting Time for Tuckerman for a couple of years.Maybe its time I get there this year. DMC you show me a nice day with slow conditions and a line to take, and I'll give you a priceless expression.

HA HA !!!
The weather is something you can't promise at Tucks...
I can promise you that you'll see weather and lots of it.....

As far as slow... You don't have to do the crazy stuff - there's lots of alternatives for skiing there... Even mellow...

Hmmmm......

dmc, I love ya lots, kid, but I can't agree with your poll criteria. Seems to me you can be an expert without having to be a BC aficianado. It takes expert ability to race and, at most hills, to ski double blacks, so if you can include that, I can consider myself an expert. I think after 37 years on skis, I can safely call myself an expert, even if my endurance isn't what it once was.....

Advanced until my legs get tired, then I transform into an Intermediate. The lower Ovation, Devil's Fiddle, and Outer Limits at Killington are ok in the morning but death traps to me in the afternoon. I don't do the backcountry thing at all.
