Been at Sunday River all weekend. About a foot of new snow today. Much more dense than I would have expected. Good skiing. Legs are now toast, Patriots are on.

I'm so confused.

My memory might be shot but I recall that there was a Sesame Street themed amusement park at the base of Shawnee Mountain during the off season. At least in the early 80's. It now appears to be in Langhorne, PA, but maybe it relocated???

I poached a few trees. Enough cover for me, then again I skied down the parking lot to my truck at the end of the day, bases need a wax.

One more decent fall and the trees should be good to go, but Gore is pretty conservative with their glade trails. The snow was pretty dry, so it's not great base building stuff, however there was no wind up there today, so it may have some time to pack down.

This is good advice.

Yes it certainly was….but driving into the notch this morning it was INSANELY windy so I opted for BrettonWoods.
Left my house at 4am, arrived at 7am…2nd chair and first tracks on many trails….Plenty of powder stashes all morning.
Legs started to give out around noon and called it just before 1…they were dropping ropes all over the place..fun times were had.
It was pretty Windy, even by BW standards but the temp wasn't that bad…..

That's before my skiing time, so I wouldnt know, but it's definitely not there now.

I actually learned to ski at Shawnee as a kid, my earliest ski days, but that was more like 87-89, and I dont remember anything like that being there then.

Turns out it was "Shawnee Place," not Sesame Place.

I didn't ski at the time (not just because it was July), but remember taking a ride on the lift after jumping around in the moonwalk.

My local mountain is 20 minutes from door to lift and we have been getting pounded with the storm as well as constant lake effect. I would say a good 4 feet in some places and its still snowing out right now big time.

Its been an awesome poaching and hiking season in my area. We have gone just about every day and although the Off boundaries and hiking are still tricky with mother natures obstacles lol its been a powder fest...

ok now i gotta go shovel out again (seriously) so I can get back down there for more of this...Stay safe people......
