need to know a bit more about what the misses likes. out of those three, i enjoy ragged the most so that is where my vote went. your milage may vary depending upon the misses' preferences for trails.

My vote's for Ragged...Sunapee has more terrain but Ragged will most likely be less crowded. I'll let riverc0il speak for the more advanced terrain there, but I found the groomers to be very enjoyable.

Tenney's tickets said 17.50 each mid week. I vote for cheap. I like Tenney had a few issues in the past. Easy to get to nice, nice, people. Some good open wide int. areas. I'm bias I like that region anyway. It will be very quiet there.

i originally voted ragged, but slow and easy definitely would fit the bill over at tenney. you are right, all three areas are nearly the same driving distrance from haverhill (my home town!). you may also wish to consider black mountain in jackson, nh. a little longer of a drive, but what a great mountain.

All the mountains listed including Black Mountain in Jackson are fun to ski weekdays. Tenney is minutes from Rte 96 Exit 26. I voted for Tenney.

well i talked to my cousin who skied Tenney today and after reading what you guys had wrote, i decieded to go to tenney (not to mention that is only 17 bucks). so i told my wife that Tenney had a bunch of intermediate runs and thats when she flipped. it went something like "blah blah blah, im not a good skier, blah blah i want to stay on the easy slopes (greenies) blah blah..ect, ect, ect. so we will be off to Ragged, looks like they have some long beginer cruisers. ill let you know how it goes on the Trip Report forum......wish me luck!

tenney is a much more gentler mountain than ragged. tenney has a lot of "blue squares" but they are very very easy blue squares.
I was considering taking the family to Tenney this season, but after asking around I got the impression that it didn't have much in the way of novice terrain. Ragged has a decent amount of intermediate groomers from the summit, but I believe that there are also a few novice trails from the summit as well.

I do hope to get to Tenney next year, but unless the whole family gets comfortable with skiing intermediate terrain it may be just me and my son (who's a better skier than I am :) ).

Yeah, 10e has some intermediate terrain, but it is tougher stuff. I'd choose Sunapee or Ragged over 10e. Bad experiences last season at 10e :(

I might take some beatings, but I'm going tomorrow with a brace. Swelling gone pain gone. Still a little unstable out of the brace. A few runs on bear claw are on the agenda. If it hurts I'll stop. One doctor said A week the other said 2 weeks off. I listen to doctors like snow reports I take the one I like the best.

I've been skiing at Tenney for the past two Fridays. It's a fabulous throwback area with a modern lodge. The skiing is classic New England style with a some great but short steeps and glades sprinkled all over the mountain. Although there aren't any novice runs from the top. As of last Friday they were 100% open with tons of glorious snow cover.

Gunstock's not a bad choice...

Right now Ragged is my 2nd favorite locally after Cannon... and it's my wife's 2nd favorite after Bretton Woods. I think that says a lot right there.
