I know the word SUV makes many people go into war mode on almost any board, but what the heck :argue:

I was at the Toyota dealer looking at a Scion Xa again today to help me narrow down what I want in a commuter car. While not 100% sure I want it, the sales guy told me to look at Toyota's website for the new Yaris coming out next spring. Well I did, but the new FJ caught my attention!

Cool front end. Definitely Old-school 'Yota-esque.

Well I can tell you from my biased opinion, I wouldn't trade my S4 for anything.

Fast, handles like a dream, a true driver's car. Tight steering, smooth clutch, corners flat as a pancake. Very neutral feeling car.

I've only had it for 5 mo.'s so no snow yet but I'm ready to order my winter tires; the S comes with performance summer rubber, the A's will come with all seasons which are fine in the winter with Quattro.

Not to mention, you can get them in Avant (wagon) trim if you need utility. I personally prefer sedans, and they're easier to find.

I liked some of the Subaru's, but Audi's have much nicer interiors, drive better (I think) and new ones use a torsen center diff with 4 wheel traction control. Subaru's use viscous coupling all around for manuals and a computer controlled clutch to split power in automatics. This leads to a more reactionary AWD system then the Audi's which will feel more proactive. Not a huge deal, neither are likely to leave you stranded unless the white stuff if 6" over the ground clearance of the car.

Let me know if you have any questions I can answer about them

Loved my Audi, but got rid of it for a Subie WRX....LOVE that even more, but echo the interior statements. I think the audi certianly has a leg up on comfort and interior "fancies", but I can't say enough about the lack of service I need to do on the subie.....and in fact I think its much MORE performance based than the AUDI even at the s4 level....and the STI just blows the S4 out of the water in terms of handling. Plus its lightning fast...My auid was in the shop a LOT compared to the Subie, but audi paid for everything up til lease end so it was ok, still didnt like having the car in the shop all the time...the Subie....only oil changes...had it close to 2 years now...thats good in my book...

Audis still rock, but I SOOO dig subie too..

God, I hope not. They'll probably hold that contract, though. At least until Saab gets their own design. Don't even get me started on Saab. I've had 2 9-3's, loved them both, won't be buying another Saab.

Probably good for Subaru to ahve some Toyota backing. Better than having GM, I think.

What will those cars be called? A Toyobaru? Suboyota?
