I'm trying to decide where to make turns this wknd. Certainly the rain everywhere followed by the sharp cool down could make things slick just about everywhere. Will either be staying near Ludlow VT or back home on the Seacoast NH.

Given that I won't ski a full day in all likelyhood, I'm more concerned with value than open terrain.
I have Sat-Mon off. Here's what I'm thinking:
Sat 12/31: Magic? Either $49 or $39 if they stick with midweek pricing with the 1 trail
Sun 1/1: May do a 1/2 day afternoon at Magic or Pico

Mon 1/2: Lots of options on the table as most places don't count this as a holiday but rather midweek pricing. 2 for 1's to Gunstock, Ragged, Pico, Mt Snow, $39 okemo coupon, etc.

What are everyone's plans for how to deal with the possibility of marginal/limited terrain+crowds+peak holiday pricing?

Mount Snow Friday - Monday

Figure that with the return of snowmaking temp occurring right now, most, if not all the resurfacing should be done by late Friday/Saturday and then back into expansion mode (as long as mother nature doesn't screw things up again!!!!!!!!)

Likely doing three days in Killington and two days in Stowe next week as both seem to have some of the better coverage out there.

Killington is up to 241 acres and 45 trails while Stowe is at 150 acres and 31 trails. Hoping these numbers improve by next week.

(And if anyone knows of any good ski/stay deals, please let me know - I'm all ears!)

Friday - Cannon Mt. It should be cold enough so I'm hoping that the snowmakers can repair the damage done by the rain and perhaps even more.
Sunday - Ragged Mt. Time to get out on skis

Heading up to Snowbird this weekend. Last weekend I got three days in and it is thin. We're suffering the 4th worst winter since 1945 here in Utah...my first winter here. Fortunately Snowbird does have a decent snowmaking system composed of fan guns and the skiing is decent, but not what Utah is known for. We are fortunate that it has stayed cold. Snow is in the forecast.

We got passes to Snowbird. I skied Alta last season on a visit and then tried Snowbird this past June and July. I also scouted out Park City, Deer Valley, Canyons, Brighton, and Solitude. Deer Valley and PCMR were out of our budget. Canyons just did not rub me the right way. Solitude, though reasonably priced and less crowded, seemed pretty small compared to other places. Brighton seemed flat and did not have as much terrain as Snowbird. Alta is awesome, but it was more than Snowbird and with a shorter season, plus our snowboarding friends can't join us. And our passes get us to Alta for $30 per day.

Out of these options, Snowbird is the closest, has the longest season, the most snow, was the best deal, and has the highest elevation. It also has more open bowls and terrain as well as awesome slackcountry options.

I hear that there is snow in New England. Hope it keeps dumping!

Gonna try the Wildcat/ Attitash thing on the same day - Mon 1/2. Neither have much open so thinking Wildcat in the AM and Attitash in the PM. Kids and wife keep all their stuff on - I'll just remove my boot on my right foot.

I won't be up for the weekend but plan on skiing several days during the week this coming week. I'll be somewhere in central to northern VT. Most likely K, the Bush & maybe Stowe. Praying for more natural snow by then.

Sounds like it's snowing in VT. as I write this. Looked at K, SB & Stowe conditions reports & their updated mid day 24 hr. snow reports all show a couple or more inches of accumulation with snow still falling....:daffy:

edit: their web-cams confirm that it is indeed snowing. Looks to be coming down pretty hard too.
