Sounds like it's snowing in VT. as I write this. Looked at K, SB & Stowe conditions reports & their updated mid day 24 hr. snow reports all show a couple or more inches of accumulation with snow still falling....:daffy:

edit: their web-cams confirm that it is indeed snowing. Looks to be coming down pretty hard too.

Looks Windy Too!

No skiing for me this weekend. Last day of Hunting season on Saturday and don't want to deal with the crowds/pricing for the amount of trails open. Being at Stratton on the 23rd was enough for me until we get some good Natural Fluff.

Ragged Ragged Ragged - possibly 3 half days. Just hoping its not frozen solid and with warmers temps afternoons might be better.

If we do come home from VT sunday night and do a day trip from my house on Monday, Ragged or Gunstock (both 2 for 1's) probably make the most sense for convenience purposes. Be nice if they got Spear up and going by then but unsure?

Probably Cannon for Friday. Though earned turns in NoVT is not out of the question. Saturday maybe Jay. Or MRG if they get enough snow to open something other than the Practice Slope. Or maybe earned. Who knows.

Was considering going to Loon Sunday but have scrapped those plans due to the bus being cancelled since they are at least fully operational liftwise and NYD isn't bad crowdwise. Considered Sunday River for Saturday instead but the crowds are just going to be ridiculous (Aurora and Jordan and the upper part of White Cap looks like it will remain closed through the weekend) and the conditions aren't that great to justify putting up with the large amount of people that will potentially be there. If the resort would be fully open with reasonably good conditions, that would be a different story though.

Though, I'm hoping everything bodes well to go to Jay or Stowe on either the 7th or 8th respectively.

We got passes to Snowbird. I skied Alta last season on a visit and then tried Snowbird this past June and July. I also scouted out Park City, Deer Valley, Canyons, Brighton, and Solitude. Deer Valley and PCMR were out of our budget. Canyons just did not rub me the right way. Solitude, though reasonably priced and less crowded, seemed pretty small compared to other places. Brighton seemed flat and did not have as much terrain as Snowbird. Alta is awesome, but it was more than Snowbird and with a shorter season, plus our snowboarding friends can't join us. And our passes get us to Alta for $30 per day.

Out of these options, Snowbird is the closest, has the longest season, the most snow, was the best deal, and has the highest elevation. It also has more open bowls and terrain as well as awesome slackcountry options.

/ thread highjack
