Wife Drives Thule Box into Garage=Fail!

Left the Thule box on my wifes Tribeca. She said to! She said I will remember...NOT! Now hoping the plastic epoxy and metal foil tape is at least a temporary fix for Wednesday as she is taking my Son to the Gore SG. If it starts to come apart, I said to leave it by the side of the road and somehow for the 204cm SG skis...At least no one was hurt,,,besides the box.:roll::roll::roll:

Wife most recently tore up the new one driving into the garage.

Years ago the genius that I am I put the box on in the garage because it was too cold outside, loaded it up, and procedded to ram the box into the garage in reverse.

Duct tape does not work when the back end is in pieces. Good thing my son is good with Puzzles and found all of the pieces. Tape the inside together with Foil tape to hold all of the pieces together...then epoxy the outside.

Been there did that. FJ was was only 4 months old. Couple of dings and quite a few scratches from the glass of the garage door. The door broke at the top. I had to put a boerd across it to fix. Too much in a rush that day, forgot that I put the box on for a trip two days later.

I would go back and check the Thule manual on that one. If the instructions didn't explicitly say, "when putting Thule box on in garage make sure you have enough clearance to exit the garage" then I think you should get a new Thule box from the manufacturer :blink: That is not obvious. :smash: This kind of stuff has to be spelled out.

My wife was backing the Seadoo into the garage when she got the idea of raising the rear door of the Nissan Xterra so she could look out the back better. Smashed the rear door of the Xterra real bad on the house. House was ok. Xterra not so much.

Its already epoxied(and seems to be holding), so I dont think the cracks help, but I will take some anyways tonight...

My wife ran into my garage with my mt. bike on top. Actually ripped off the roof rails, did no damage to the bike and only a small tire mark above the garage door. I had to screw the rails back down to the roof. Kind of hokie but it worked until we got rid of the minivan.

B did this with the mountain bikes right after we bought them. First time he put them on the Blazer, he drove down to the bank to stop at the ATM and ripped them (and my roof rack) clean off the truck at the parking garage. He broke his bike in the process and had to ride mine back to the house to get his pickup truck to bring the carnage home.

Sorry, the mother excuse card won't work! My 17 YO daughter did the same thing a few weeks after she got her license as she bolted out to school, late. Pushded the entire frame within inches of my car, which became trapped. Needless to say, I was late for work...

My wife drove the minivan into the garage with the Christmas tree atop, made it all the way in. It was so jammed against the garage door motor that we nearly had to cut it out. A few broken branches later and we had a Charlie Brown Christmas :-D

When my kids were still in car seats, I started to back out of the garage after fully opening the door, and the door decided to come back down on my car as I was driving out, hit it and bounced back up before I could react. It was the first and only time my kids heard me swear.

There are lots of stories about people who built big things in their garage and basements and never thought about how they would get it out. I remember one about a boat.

pretty common with lots of construction too. I've worked at two hotels that I recalled having to replace their commercial washers that required knocking down walls to get the old units out and the new ones in.
