Good Friday? I say GREAT Friday. Earth day? I saw virtually no earth through the wall to wall snow at Wildcat.

What a day! It was a wintery cold 10 degrees in the early AM. So we were in no rush to get to the Mtn. The drive through Crawford notch was spectacular and it was temping to stop for a hike instead of continuing to Wildcat. Along the way we passed Cannon, Bretton Woods, and Attitash. All three have plenty of coverage and could easily be open. The west side of MW was looking good with new snow up top.

Coming through Pinkham the Tux crowds were out in force. All lots were full and roadside parking extended 1/4 mile in both directions. I expected a mob scene at Wildcat...but no. We pulled in at 10:30. The main lot was about 1/2 full. Lot C was 1/4 full....and almost everyone there was a Cannon regular! The grills and coolers were already out. It was like the Cannon Rock had just picked up and relocated to Wildcat without batting an eye.

On the first ride up things looked a little questionable. Everything ungroomed was bright and shiny. It was pretty clear that groomers were the only option. And oh were they sweet. Fast, corny, and fun. The T2Bs at Wildcat are epic leg burners. By the second ride up the glaze was loosening its grip. By mid-afternoon the ungroomed bumps had softened and skied as well as the groomers.

We made occasional forays back to the lot to eat off the grill and quench a thirst. But it was hard to stay away from such great turns at this point in the season, So we continued with lap after fast lap until the lifts stopped spinning. Their whiteboard said "We may stay open until May 1st, tell us what you think". I highly recommend that everyone get on WC's Facebook page, email, etc at say YES YES YES!!! Then get there.

Looking across the street was interesting. Mirrors everywhere....scary! But then again the wind and light snows from Thurs surely filled it in. Second hand reports and TFT posts run the gamut from bottomless bliss to bulletproof horror. Location, location, location. Plenty up there still and Sherbie looked filled in to the lot. Soon.

Good Fried Earth Day! First time to Wildcat, first time skiing in New Hampshire. What a perfect day of Spring skiing! It's hard to believe the trails that resembled glazed donuts in the morning could ski so well in the afternoon. Is there any better view anywhere in the east, I think not. Reminded me of Taos. I'm amazed the hikers/skiers on Tucks aren't visible with the naked eye from Wildcat, not these naked eyes anyways. Vote for May 1st?, June 1st would be possible if there were interest. There was still snow in Gorham yesterday.
